Didn't see a thread on this so......
I have to admit... I've been against the Star Wars franchise since they started the stupid reboots after the original 3 movies. Every movie since then has been an absolute cringefest filled with wasted opportunities, idiotic writing, bland characters and SJW virtue signalling.
HOWEVER
After watching The Mandalorian my interest has been rekindled. It's been excellent (IMHO). Just a shame that each ep is so short.

I´m loving it so far, the more ground and audience the Star Wars movies try to cover, the worse they turn out, this one is keeping it simple for now, and works so good. It´s been years since the last Star Wars toy i bought, but wouldn´t mind getting some mandalorian related stuff this christmas (THAT one character you know lol)

i liked it and i hate everything after the OT.
just seemed like a typical space western set in SW universe. they shoulda used the yoda egg as a macguffin instead of yet again creating this forced nostalgia kluge. they just cannot help themselves can they.
b minus for yoda and for the flashback scene of the mandalorians foundling origin story, better to leave it ambiguous.
now how fukkin hard was that? to follow a standard narrative?do not read my posts and weep, i am not there i do not sleep

I think it's good because not much SJW BS yet and it's nice to get a story that isn't a continuation of the old movies. SW seems to be better suited as a show since movies have to jam the whole story into 2 hours rather than a 10 hour season or whatever it will be.

i love it. it's kind of it's own genre. it's like an old western but sci-fi and modern. it's got a totally different feel. the problem i find is that the episodes are too ****ing short. i think it's a major problem. ep 1 is 37 minutes, ep 2 30 minutes, ep 3 37 minutes. and then u cut out time as well for the credits and opening. surely disney could have afforded more.
that's exactly what they shoulda done with rogue one. brilliant movie, easily the best for me, but it would have been amazing as an HBO or TV series.Last edited by 2RDEYE; 11-26-2019 at 06:22 AM.

It's okay. Honestly feels like I'm just watching a bunch of video game cutscenes though. Doesn't seem very epic.
It's more like "world of star wars". Go on fetch quest. Come back. Upgrade armor. Go on fetch quest. Acquire vanity pet. Upgrade armor.Motorcycle crew

That's what I mean. It isn't very original, it's borderline cliche. Basically old western movie shootouts mixed with a little world of warcraft quest lines. They even do the old saved by the cavalry scene in the latest episode. I guess it's cool because it's star wars and laser blasters but it's been done in at least 100 cowboy movies.

It's a great show imo and i'm enjoying it much more than the last few films. The people working on this show have a much better grasp of what star wars fans want than those working on the last few films. Rise of skywalker looks to be another massive turd so I'm going to laugh when nobody cares about that movie and instead are focused on baby yoda being cute and the mandalorian beating ass.

<Shrug> The Boys and Watchmen were based on comics and Westworld was based on a movie from the 60s or 70s I believe.... TD was a dark cop drama... nothing new there either. To be clear I loved all of those though for the same reason that I like The Mandalorian. They're presented well.
No. It's well-written and nothing's over the top (imo). Like polar opposite from the Star Wars movies.
