Why does general public struggle with losing weight so badly?

I think it's cause everyone associates happiness with food...so they eat until they are stuffed

In reality, the human body doesn't need much to survive. 1400 calories of high protein and healthy food is plenty for us to survive on and feel fine

Because it's hard..most people just give up when the going gets tough in my experience. They simply don't want it badly enough, I think that's the harsh truth.

We know. We don't care. Sit back and think about the life you're leading that you spend your days making these accounts to post the same thing every day. You are probably one of the most pathetic in the entire population of this world. You live a life that billions wish they could live, only to squander it by drinking daily to cover the pain of your inadequacy. Then you make these threads based on a a superiority complex about how funny and intelligent you are to be able to beat the system of a forum to endlessly push trolling posts. At that very same time you post threads like these, a little bit of your soul fades away into the vast emptiness you surround yourself with. You were given a beautiful life to grace this earth with, but instead you squander it daily in a way that makes you as worthless as the **** stained toilet paper I flushed down the toilet earlier. Actually, the toilet paper has more value than what your life brings to this planet. May God have mercy on your soul, and hopefully you rectify yourself to become an actual citizen that lives life with gratitude for what they were given. Otherwise you will slowly fade away into nothingness, leaving behind nothing but an annoyance to society, or be but dust in the wind.

Have you ever had to lose a significant chunk of fat?

If so you would understand why a lot of people can't manage it. Takes consistent discipline and self control over a long period of time, something the average person is pretty lacking.

This, as someone who spent the majority of their life as a fat, out of shape fukk who never worked out. The long term consistency and life change is where it's at and it's a constant struggle that most people don't see as a journey, not a destination.

Also, the amount of generically "bad" info out there out diet and exercise is ridiculous. I constantly am talking to coworkers and friends about it and seeing the amount of bad info is just...terrible.

So many people are told that certain foods make you fat and that only certain diets will cause fat loss. People are uneducated about the finer points of nutrition and are taken advantage of by predators looking to make a quick buck. Its really sad actually.

For someone to do it natty is difficult for most.

There are subsets of people that genuinely can't genetically. Others have slower metabolism.

For the vast majority of people it's very difficult.

In most cases, people are lazy. They'll make excuses and tell you they have other priorities, but it just comes down to not wanting to put forth the effort to limit calories and fit in a moderate amount of exercise every day.

If everyone went for a 30 minute brisk walk every day and limited themselves 1,500-2,500 calories depending on height and overall activity level, we wouldn't have obesity. Sounds pretty easy, but for most people it takes effort and they are lazy.

Of course there are also legitimate health issues like thyroid, disability, etc., but that doesn't apply to average people.

nutrition is really easy, the problem is most people have been indoctrinated with bs so you have to undo all that garbage first.

Because we are biologically programmed to crave food, and it is always evolutionarily better to overeat than undereat. Changing your diet is guaranteed to help you lose weight. But that doesn't mean your body won't change its metabolism as much as possible and use every trick in the book to compel you to eat more food. I've lost 100 lb before. Ended up gaining about 30 back. Now, I'm down 10 again. LOL. It's all over the place. Just depends on what you can sustain. I used to exercise really hard, and I don't anymore so I have to really watch what I am eating.

A part of it might be what food is now. Food isn't the same as it was 20 years ago. There is a lot of high fructose corn syrup.

Also, people seem more focused on instant gratification nowadays.

The general public just doesn't care enough. Eating less and saying no to yummy stuff is hard; consciously buying produce, nuts, whole grains, and meats requires effort. Cooking the damn food after "a long day of work" requires effort. OP shame on you for spamming, but this is a fiar point for discussion.

I've been obese three times in my life, but I've found a nutritional and training regimen that's prevented me from becoming clinicly overweight or obese ever again. It took me six years to figure it out though. How many people do you know that would Google and toil endlessly and literally try everything from endurance sports, vegan dieting, starvation, aggressive bulking, and home gyming? I know two other people irl that do what I do, but I've talking with hundreds of people who literally couldn't care less.

Short answer is 'coz it requires effort and discipline. I wouldn't say it's super noble, although it's definitely commendable, to diet and exercise and practice weight management. Most people would rather not set an alarm clock and make time for strength training before/after work, and most people don't have the discipline to say no to a delicious cheeseburger or dessert or what-have-you after "a long day of work".

It's all about perspective really. The urge to make positive change and actually acting on that urge are two different things.

Good point. We are programmed to crave carbohydrates and refined sugars and fats. This is why pies and cakes are so hard to resist.

Now to mention donuts. Want to pass on a Glory Hole? A lot of people find that really hard to do.

Add to that, being in the West, we have access to so many delicious food options, it is difficult not to partake.

    The "difficulty" is the problem.

It’s the same reason that the vast majority of drug addicts never get clean. They are physiologically compromised. It’s not about “willpower” or “discipline” or any of that ****. They have stopped caring about themselves because their addiction now controls them.

If so you would understand why a lot of people can't manage it. Takes consistent discipline and self control over a long period of time, something the average person is pretty lacking.

Of course there are also legitimate health issues like thyroid, disability, etc., but that doesn't apply to average people.

    Pretty much all of this.

    1. People are sedentary. They sit in a chair all day at work then go home and sit on the couch. People don't prioritize exercise
    2. No discipline/self control when it comes to food. Food tastes good, it feels good to eat yummy stuff and feel full. It takes a lot of effort to keep calories in check.
    3. People may lose the weight, but it's maintaining that weightless most struggle with.

It takes major effort to exercise, cook healthy food, count calories etc. Then you have peer pressure. If you work in an office you know what I'm talking about. People bring in junk constantly. Then if you don't eat it people try to push it on you. "You're thin, it's just one cookie/donut/piece of cake". Yeah, and if I ate that one every day I wouldn't be thin.
