    So what to do when Gain Muscle Easily

    Hello all,

    New to the forums not necessarily new to fitness (being ex-military).

    Now I've always been able to put muscle on easily (even as a woman). I'm a natural mesomorph leaning to endomorph and it gives me a sort of 'thick' muscular (my calves, as example, are huge). The problem is I've put on extra weight (doesn't show easily; a colleague thought I was 50lbs lighter than I am) and wanna figure out the best exercise to burn this off without adding to muscle. I keep muscle well (beneath the extra weight there's still defined muscular).

    To lose fat, all you have to do is be in a caloric deficit. Basically burn more calories than you eat. Cardio is not required, but it can help speed things up. Check out the "Losing Fat" section for more information on this.

    It would be beneficial to do some lifting so you can at least maintain whatever muscle you currently have. Working to add muscle is always more beneficial in my opinion, however. You may want to check out the "Workout Programs" section for more info on building or maintaining muscle.

    I don't need to add more muscle that's the thing. Like my father I retain muscle with ease even without working out. It's a trait of mesomorphs to be naturally muscular.

    Beneath the fat is solid muscle. I haven't been to a gym in a decade till recently as example and can still do 275-325lb leg presses for 30 reps.

    If I started doing weights for real I'd end up looking like a female Hulk.


    So there's no real suggestions aside from diet and cardio. Btw I'm not 49 but in 30s not sure why it says 49.

    There's not much more to it. Losing fat comes from diet and/or cardio.

    Since you say that you already have the muscle you want, it sounds like you just want to lose fat, right? All you have to do is control diet if that's what you want to do. If you don't want more muscle, don't lift weights. That's up to you. Women with some muscle is sexy in my opinion.
