Question Mirror Fitness? Is it any good?

Morning all! I've just seen that there's a thing called Mirror fitness; basically an interactive mirror/camera which shows you live fitness classes and lets you talk to your other fitness pals and instructors. The only thing that's a bit concerning to me is the price of it all. The "mirror" itself costs $1,495 but that's not all. You then have to pay $39 a month every month just to use the device. For the same price, I can sign up to my regular gym for just over 3 years... My question is this. I get the appeal of having a gateway to fitness in the comfort of your own home, but is it really worth it? Does the pretty hefty price justify the product? Would love to hear from people who have the device already or plan to purchase it. Any other insights would be much appreciated! Have a great day!

It may be appealing to some people who can afford it, but I can't see it being very popular. For a lot of people, it will just end up being another unused piece of fitness equipment.

The interactive training is likely nothing more than a novelty that will wear off anyways. Not only that, if people stop buying the monthly subscription, the company will go out of business and you will be left with an expensive mirror.

    Just things to consider.

Does the $1,495 mirror or $39/monthly subscription come w/ fitness equipment for your home? That seems more important than seeing other ppl, esp if it's a 2-way mirror that lets them see into your home and you working out in your underwear. Also, are the classes things you want to do that are consistent w/ your fitness goals?

I'd say just join a gym or have a buddy w/ a gym membership use FaceTime while he or she goes to classes you like.

Agree w/ FB above that it locks you into their service that will either go under or deteriorate in classes offered and # of other ppl working out "with" you.

I have my own magical electric mirror device in my front room, I call it "TV".

It's possible to use it for fitness too, you can do everything with it from buying an old VHS machine and Jane Fonda tapes at a thrift sale, to casting YouTube onscreen or subscribe to some Google hangouts based remote instruction (although I don't myself).

All this using my "TV" device, perhaps in conjunction with my phone if I need a camera for videoconf. Who'd have thought modern technology could be so versatile that you don't need to spend $1,495 on dedicated/specialist hardware these days.

But where's the shallow gimmick doing it that way. I don't gettit, you'd have real instruction, you're no fun!
