Unhappy Training during FAI & labrum tear recovery

Have a femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and labral tear in the right hip, doctor said to completely stop all compound lifts and heavy loaded hip movements for 6 weeks minimum, will also be doing PT 2x a week. I don't want to completely stop glute and leg training for that long, has anyone had any success training around this injury without causing further damage? I'm thinking I'll try to focus on single leg exercises as well as those with a shorter range of motion and hip flexion, would love to be able to at least hip thrust still if possible...help a girl out!

Listen to your Orthopedic Surgeon and stop. Work with a good PT (one with a DPT and works rehabbing pro athletes) and let him/her bring in exercises and direct what you can/can't do. A few months is not going to hurt you
