Dodge has been pretty reliable for awhile. It's the finish quality that is still lacking.

I have a very old dodge from 2005 that I seldom drive. It sounds like a monster, and runs like a champ but AC keeps breaking again an again and the paint, well forget about that. Fukin peeling like snake skin

It seems like Dodge/RAM are decent now in terms of reliability. The problem still remains with QC. Fit and finish along with minor bugs/problems. Even my Dodge/RAM friends will talk about the issues they've had with their RAM trucks or Chargers. Even when its a minor issue, and is repaired under warranty. I just feel like having to bring your vehicle in for issues when its under 30K miles is a little suspect.

As far as hard use. I just hit 50K miles on my 2016 Explorer. Hard city miles with aggressive driving/braking. The only maintenance done was brakes, tires and oil changes. A lot of people claim Ford is crap but for police units they tend to handle the work better then Chevrolet (Tahoes) and Dodge (Chargers).

To give you an idea of how hard we are on our vehicles if you hit 100K miles that vehicle needs to be retired/sold at auction. If it makes it to 130kish you might as well just give it away or shoot it up at the range. Tahoe's and Chargers usually die before 100K. Die as in leave you on the side of the road to call a tow truck... Tahoes crap out consistently for us at around 60-70K miles. Sure they can be repaired. But who wants to be left on the side of the road.

With hard use every brand can have their issues. But with Ford its primarily just the transmissions. Drive a GMC truck in personal life. I'm not hard on it though.

I own a 2019 Ram Rebel and you're right on with the minor annoyances and bugs. Like my electric lock on my tailgate door gets stucks, sometimes my infotainment goes on and off and gets stuck. Also, had 3 recalls, but I would expect that on a first year model.

Engine and trans wise it's been rock solid. Like you said it's the QC on stupid things that's what bothers me.

Just for reference, my 2016 4runner had the same type of issues. the info screen would turn off randomly and restart if you used the factory navigation. usually when you needed it the most in a major city. the front speakers would randomly give up. the back glass didnt always roll down. No big deal, i still liked it, just minor hick ups. Even toyota isnt immune to such things.
Just picked up a 2019 North edition RAM. I love it, so far no issues, but only like 2200 miles in.

my ram is an '11 and i've had it full time until the last couple years where i was fortunate enough to get the SRT challenger for warm weather. clearly i'm a dodge homer i say it all the time here

the ram has had very little trouble over the 8 years. i'm talking burnt taillight bulb here and there, that kinda thing. never lets me down. the challenger, though several years younger, has probably given me twice the drama. wheel speed sensor, a couple recalls, rear differential fluid, check engine light due to gas cap loose (lol.), the brembos squeal if you don't clean them regularly. i think i'm forgetting something. i treat both like they're made of glass. i guess some are a bit more reliable than others.

I think the article is saying they have "improved" their reliability.

And if you go by that survey, then VW is apparently more reliable than Acura, while Dodge is more reliable than Honda.

    https://www.consumerreports.org/car-...reliable-cars/

It's all about context. You can't look at a sample of 1 yr and come to conclusion that Dodge/Chrysler is now reliable when they've been making sh*t cars for the last 20 yrs (pickups excluded).

Only dodge I'd buy is the ram. We use chargers and durangos at work and they are complete pieces of chit. Especially the AWD chargers. The AWD sensor is under a thin piece of plastic where you plant your left foot to get in/out. We had to have our mechanic make metal covers to replace the plastic one because dodge would only replace them with another plastic one that would get broken again.

You couldn't sneak up on a deaf guy with how bad the durangos rattle
