Never got the surrounding cringey hype and the need to replace my phone each year, or when the new model comes out. But Apple products are imo waaay overpriced and most of it really is just a cash-grab in a bs package.
Still, I bought a 6S 3,5 years ago because I was getting tired of Android constantly clogging up RAM and slowing down, thought I would give iPhone a try. Prolly best phone purchase of mine so far. Tbh I still can't justify replacing it, there's simply no fuking way I'm going to fork out 800-1000 bucks for a new gen. Checked out my brother's 11 Pro, and buddy's Mate 20 Pro, cool phones, but I think I'll wait a bit.

Honestly. their technology is simple and easy to use. It's also really easy to sync all their products together.

People take this stuff really seriously, so I'll be objective:
It's not really complicated - Apple makes really good, high end products with the best design language. They also have (by far) the best ecosystem, if you have multiple Apple devices, they all work together seamlessly. It's very easy to restore a device, set up a new device, switch between devices...etc etc. Apple makes products that are easy to use for everybody, including people who aren't "techie", some people interpret this to mean apple devices are for "stupid" people but it's not true - to do the very basic things IS simple, and that's very much by design, but you can always go deeper and customize and hack things.
Samsung operates on Android, which is a totally different approach, it's much more open but as a result its infested with bloatware, spyware, security flaws, bugs, etc. The positive side of this, is it's very customizable for the Uber-advanced users who like to do such things. Apple/Samsung both have "flagship" devices which have top-tier hardware specs, all the latest cameras, gadgets etc - however Apple puts it together in a MUCH nicer and refined package, however, you WILL pay a premium for that.
For me personally - I used to be a Samsung / Android guy because I had the time to go deep into customizing, hacking, making things do stuff they weren't designed to do, getting involved in communities etc. Now that I'm not a teenagers / in my early 20's and have a job, go to the gym, social life, hobbies, I don't have the time to waste 10-20hours hacking my device. I want to buy a new product, have it sync with all my existing products, breeze through setup, and get it working for exactly the purpose it was designed for.....and because of the aforementioned job, I have no problem paying a little more money for the ease of use and the really sleek design language.
Pretty simple pro / con evaluation

Apple keeps everything proprietary which is why you have to pay $50 for a charger or headphone adapter. It's also how they can get away with throttling their processor to make you think you need a new phone when in fact they are just doing it to piss you off.
Android is open source which means ultra low cost and customizability. Endless 3rd party accessories and software. Much of the same reason PCs put Apple computers out of business years ago and now they're just PCs of a different brand with the same hardware as a dell or hp.
Apple users are just too dumb to realize they're being throttled and price gouged.Motorcycle crew

Yes Apple keeps things locked down, this is not done for pricing, it's done to give more oversight and security to what is allowed on their platforms (not saying its good or bad)
Android is not locked down, this allows for more freedom for 3rd parties, however those 3rd parties can put (and do put) lots of malicious things in their apps (not saying it's good or bad)
It's just two different philosophies my man - you are free to choose the one which you prefer.
Also, as far as I know, regarding throttling, I've seen the articles, and it seems there is a very justified reason for SLIGHTLY slowing the processor and it's all about EXTENDING the life of the battery, and overall the device. These phones are so sophisticated and 99.9% of consumers have no clue how complex they are - they don't realize that batteries have a lifespan, and they degrade over time. There is no conspiracy with Apple purposefully slowing phones to force you to upgrade, the majority of complains come down to people be clueless, not understanding they need to close apps running into background, not realizing they've downloaded a ton of crap slowing down the phone, they've got 20 apps all actively reporting their location information and therefore pinging cell towers constantly (Which takes processing power and huge battery power).

this will run smoothly at least 4 years wiith constant ios updates.
the only bad thing nowadays is the price.

Hardly a scandal.
Status symbol thing is a real stretch. Unless someone has iOS and gets a text from me, they wouldn't know what phone I have. I have a case on it so the logo doesn't show, same as almost everyone else. NTM, flagship phones from Apple are not even more expensive than Samsung.MFC
drum, it holds fifty, uh
