CNN wanted to interview him because he was the new president (and elected after playing a president on tv). The New York Times reported (linked in the CNN article) that Zelensky was going to make the announcement.





And today we're going to get to hear how an Ambassador to Ukraine was fired because she was in the way of Giuliani and his goons and wouldn't Tweet out her praise of Trump. She was fighting corruption and Trump was trying to install it. She had to go.

Zelensky was made aware shortly after the July 25th call, so this interview was well after he knew. Trump made it clear it needed to be a public announcement.

CNN had been trying for months to get the interview, then suddenly out of the blue Zelensky agreed. Just as quickly, after the whistleblower dropped followed by the money being released, Zelensky cancelled the interview.
