    Pea Protein

I’ve been looking for protein powder aside from whey. Has anyone used Pea Protein? I’m seeing Pea Protein that’s about 24g in an 8oz serving.

    All thoughts welcome.

It is difficult to mask the taste unless you intend on using it in savory applications

It mixes quite well but has a slightly gritty/grainy texture unlike whey. It does have a fairly distinct taste which is odd at first but actually quite easy to get used to. As mentioned above it is hard to mask the taste - it pretty much comes through whatever you add to it (I've used it with various fruits/flavorings and in savory recipes and it was noticeable in all of them).

If you want to try it I'd suggest starting with a small pack so you're not left with loads of it if you find you don't like it.

I've used it before but in certain applications like baking where whey gives a weird rubbery texture if you're not careful. Pea protein works best in strongly flavored sweet foods like brownies. I wouldn't use it on its own.
