    Torn Bicep

Good afternoon, I’m hoping someone can provide some insight. A couple weeks ago I tore the medial distal head of my left bicep. I had an MRI done and the surgeon said that I should regain most or all of my strength without surgical intervention. He said that it’s more cosmetic than anything. The muscle is deformed and will eventually heal higher up on my humerus. I’m still trying to decide if I want the surgery or not. It is my non dominant hand but between powerlifting, bodybuilding, and playing rugby, I’m not sure if I want to risk a drop in strength. Has anyone torn their bicep and not had it repaired? What was the outcome? Also, the same questions to anyone who did opt for surgery. Thanks for any help! I’m..... torn..... get it?

It's an easy fix. Usually they do endo button repair which is about 6 weeks downtime. They've come a long way on bicep surgery. Mine was in 2013. Good as new.

I see wut you did there

My thought on tears is this; if you plan on ever competing in BB'ing, get it fixed. I had to have my left tricep re-atteched years ago and very thankful I did. Yes, it could have healed on its own but we've all seen the pics of guys with unrepaird tears and they usually aren't good.
