Legend Fitness Lat Pulldown/Low Row Combo #3136 or #971

    Hi Everyone,

Wanted to get your opinions between these two Legend Fitness Lat-Pulldown/Low Row machines. Ideally, if you own one or both pieces and can give me feedback please. The #3136 is a plate loaded version, whereas the #971 has a weight stack. The things I'm really looking to have answered are:

    1. How smooth is the motion? I've had cheap variants and the motion isn't smooth. I especially want to know this for the #3136 plate loaded version.
    2. I have submitted for a quote on both, but can anyone tell me what they paid for them? If it's not too big a difference, I'd prefer the #971 with a weight stack, but if it's a huge difference plate loaded will do.
    3. Longevity.... how will either model hold up in a garage gym? It will be my wife and I using it, and maybe some workout buddies here and there. Are the pulleys built to last, or cheap crap? Same question for the cable itself.
    4. I know the forums have the answer here, but I'd like fresh answers... Is Legend a reputable brand? I am well aware of commercial brands, and yet I've never seen a Legend piece of equipment in any gym I've ever been to.

Thank you all for your feedback.
Life is yours alone, rise up and live it.

I don't have either of the lat units, but I believe the plate load version is highly regarded, If memory serves me correctly Attyguy has this unit in his gym.

I do have 2 Legend racks and benches, Legend equipment is great quality, suitable for use in any commercial environment.

Here's a link to the Legendary thread, essential reading for anyone considering purchasing Legend equipment.

I have the pro lat low row and it is a commercial piece. Very smooth. I was going to get the non pro version for less but didn’t want to have to connect the cable to do the low row. I have posts about it in the legendary thread. I think I got it 3 or 4years ago.

Thanks for the feedback, I just got quotes back for both, and the cheapest weight stack unit is nearly double the price of the plate loaded version...yikes!

Quote from legend? Yes it was pretty expensive when I got it plus I paid extra to have them place it in my basement.

    I have the plate loaded 3136: http://legendfitness.com/product/latlow-row/

Love it. Very smooth. I rarely use the low row but it works fine. You can load it up nicely and I'd need a 300lbs upgraded stack anyway which is harder to find. I think I paid $500 or $600 used and in solid condition with a few paint chips but otherwise clean and well maintained.

With the open weight carriage I used these to hang all my attachments. They hold full bars, MAG grips, and rowing handles nicely and right on the machine so no need to do any wall based projects: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The 3136 is sweet. It's ideal if you already have a lot of plates laying around, as I do.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?
