    wrangler bros check in thread

Just bought a 2008 Wrangler Unlimited X from a kid who thought he destroyed the transmission- was just the torque converter and a few seals so I made out pretty good. Although finding out things about wranglers now that weird me out.

Hood flaps at decently high speeds (70+)
    cant find the EVAP leak
TPMS sensors were all missing (lol)
THat soft top is fukked, and supposedly youre supposed to buy the hardware with the top together, mixing and matching isnt recommended.

Hard tops are 2500+ ? WTF?
Want to get a 3.5" lift kit with some 35s on 17" wheels, and a sweet fender set up. (with wheel spacers as well)

Im going for that Humvee look, after all is done I may talk to a welding specialist about getting a turret for an AR platform weapon to attach to the middle bar for some offroading/desert trips.

I had a 2008. Some models have an internal flaw regarding oil starvation specifically around the bearings/crankshaft. I changed the oil every 3-5k miles and it started to seem like it was burning oil extremely fast around 70k miles. Sometimes I would get like a ticking sound that sounded like lifter noise. I had planned on pulling the heads off to inspect. Before I got a chance I was cruising down the highway and the jeep just died. I had to have it towed back to my house. Bearing spun...had to pull the crank and have it machined...new rings, bearings, oil pump etc etc.

Pulled it and rebuilt it myself (except crank refinishing). Got it working and drove it straight to the jeep dealership and traded it on a rubicon with a pentastar.

That jeep ever starts burning oil really fast or starts ticking...you may want to have it looked at fast or start thinking about dumping it.

Read up on some forums..pretty sure it was common with 07s and 08s.
