If Human Beings Weren't Meant to Eat Meat, Why do we Have Canines?

There are a few possible angles of debate here so let's have a look at it:

    - Apes also have canines, yet are herbivorous (a frequent pro-vegan argument), yet apes are only semi-bipedal while humans are fully bipedal. If its true we evolved from apes, then naturally, over the next thousands of years Apes will evolve to reflect the humans of the 21st century today, and humans will be far more advanced (who knows where today's human beings will be in thousands of years genetically, biologically and technologically, its not important). The point here is human beings advanced far beyond apes and apart from being bipedal, there is another important thing which separates us from them - we eat alot of meat. So my counter to the "Apes have canines too" argument is simple: we are well beyond the level of apes, and meat eating has enabled our minds and bodies to build civilized and technologically advanced societies.

    - Killing animals is inhumane - very true, and another frequent vegan argument. Vegans may debate human beings (and perhaps even animals) are gifted with the ability to feel compassion, yet here I think method is more important. I have seen terrible videos of animals been suffocated and such and I personally don't think this is good. Perhaps if the animals were put to sleep with a strong sedative/tranquiliser, so they didn't feel any pain during the slaughter-process, then this would be a far better way to please both vegans and meat eaters (both who have the ability to feel compassion).

    - Meat farming harms the environment - we're specifically talking about methane from cattle here - very true, it can't be denied cattle farming is harmful to the environment, yet what about the benefits of the heme iron specifically found only in red meat. This study shows the heme iron from red meat is far more bioavailable (ca. 50% more bipavailable) than non-meat iron sources. So to counter the argument of cattle harming the environment - not eating meat is also harmful, to your health. Let's not also forget that in order to grow say, a few hectares of a crop, many animals must be killed to clear out the area (naturally habitating coyotes, deer etc.). Pesticides in crop farming also killed countless insects, which to the hardcore vegan I'm guessing is a big no-no

    - Religious basis (I won't get too in depth here) - God created fish and birds before man (the fifth day), while he created quadripedal animals both on the sixth day, so perhaps it is wrong to eat quadruped-meats, but okay to eat fish and birds which were created seperately. Very good argument, yet if you read another hundred words or so, Genesis 1 clearly states that god then offered all of the animals to man (fish, birds and quadrupeds). I'm guessing this is a more debated point among pollo-pescetarians.

    - Red meat causes cancer - a new-age debate topic, but why has research like this only appeared in the past 10 years, when previous research for decades past show meat consumption as beneficial to health. With the changing political climate and influences, possibly from the left; you have to ask yourself who is paying the wages of these new-age researchers.

    - Human beings don't need meat to survive; very true, but we don't need apples and romaine lettuce either. The fact of the matter is, human beings simply need calories and nutrients to survive (yes basically survive), but why survive when you can thrive. See anemia above. Studies have shown anemic people are more likely to experience depression, anxiety and an overall lower quality of life than non-anemic people.

    - Considering other nutrients, a vegan diet contains everything you need - not true. Provitamin A, which is only found in liver, milk, cheese, eggs and cream has been shown to be far more bioavailable than beta carotene in vegetables, which I might add requires fat (which vegan diets are often lacking) for absorption. Protein bioavailability has also been shown to be significantly lower in vegan foods than in animal foods. In fact, whey protein, milk, eggs, fish and beef all have a rating above ca. 80% while vegan sources such as soy, beans and peanuts have ratings of 59, 49 and 43% respectively, so you need to eat more of these vegan foods to induce into your body the same amount of protein. This could be problematic, and lead to weight gain among vegans who are worried they may not be getting enough bioavailable protein and may thus eat more protein foods to counter this.

    Cliffs
    - human beings have canines, and meat eating has enabled us to evolve into civilized and technologically advanced people
    - if animals are killed humanely, then meat eating is okay
    - cattle farming may harm the environment, yet not eating meat has equally disastrous consequences upon the health system (and your taxes), crop farming also requires much killing of innocent animals
    - God gave animals to human beings for sustenance (Genesis 1)
    - Numerous studies show eating meat is beneficial, while only new-age (and possibly left wing studies) show meat to cause cancer
    - Human beings simply need calories to survive, yet why survive when you can thrive (off of the lovely nutrients in meat)
    - A vegan diet is lacking in provitamin A (a complex nutrient) and is low in bioavailable protein

    Cliffs of Cliffs
    - meat is good
    - human beings should eat meat should they wish to better themselves physically, technologically and socially. On the topic of social advancement here, just look at how antisocial and angry those militant vegans are bahahhahahh

Canines say nothing about whether man was meant to eat meat. Canines might have just came about for no purpose.

For example -- Why do men have nipples? No reason ... just there. Does the presence of nipples on men indicate that men were also meant to breastfeed, like women?

The reason both men and women have nipples is because we start out with the same basic genetic blueprint.

These are the teeth of a lion, they are all sharp, and chewing vegetables and grass with these teeth would not be a straightforward possibility:

These are the teeth of a cow, they are all flat, and chewing/tearing meat with these teeth would not be a straightforward possibility:

These are the teeth of humans, there is a variation of both sharp (canines and incisors) and flat (molar) teeth, and one could thus conclude we are naturally omnivorous:

Humans are evolved to eat an omnivorous diet, no chit we are 'supposed' to eat meat. That doesn't mean we have to eat meat but I suspect some meat or fish protein is a component of an optimal diet for most people.

Obviously vegans say otherwise but vegan propaganda tends to be about feels not science.

Also apes are not completely herbivorous and our closest relatives, chimpanzees, eat meat, eggs and insects in their natural environment when they get the chance. Regardless, whether or not apes eat meat is irrelevant. We have millions of years of evolution separating us from apes. We have different dentition and digestive systems; we are adapted to a more omnivorous diet, much of which is cooked food.
I will read and review 100 books this year: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=176675491

“Many religions now come before us with ingratiating smirks and outspread hands, like an unctuous merchant in a bazaar. They offer consolation and solidarity and uplift, competing as they do in a marketplace. But we have a right to remember how barbarically they behaved when they were strong and were making an offer that people could not refuse.”

Humans are omnivores...but we're also the only known species that has the cognitive ability to think critically about our diet and its effects on ourselves and the world around us.

Also apes are not completely herbivorous and our closest relatives, chimpanzees, eat meat, eggs and insects in their natural environment when they get the chance. Regardless, whether or not apes eat meat is irrelevant. We have millions of years of evolution separating us from apes. We have different dentition and digestive systems; we are adapted to a more omnivorous diet, much of which is cooked food.
exactly, I think cooking meat is a big part of it since the human brain was advanced enough to create fire, something which no animals can do, so it is silly for us to compare ourselves to lions or other less neurologically advanced omnivores

Yep, chimps and other apes have massive growth hormone guts, huge jaws and teeth because they eat an all-raw food diet. We look the way we do because we adapted to a cooked food diet over thousands of generations. Raw foodists are more wrong than vegans, hard to imagine but true.

If we weren't supposed to eat meat our digestive system wouldn't be able to handle it. Just like we can't handle dairy. Which we aren't supposed to eat.
