    Hypertrophy vs Strength?

If you've just started working out, what is the best strategy? Training for hypertrophy or strength training?

your best strategy is getting on a decent beginner program for general strength (which will also grow your muscles), learning proper form and technique on compound and isolation movements, and progressively overloading with them

I'm not actually a beginner, but I got back to working out after a long hiatus (10 years) General strength..Can you elaborate on that? What kind of exercises?

Same here but I came back with the mindset that I was a beginner.

If you've been away from proper weight training for 10 years, then the way you progress is effectively going to be similar to that of a beginner.

Is there gonna be a difference if I start with hypertrophy? What's the difference (again asking NOT arguing)

it's a moot point because you are going to gain size and strength

trying to distinguish the two as if it's black and white as a beginner is pointless, just pick a novice program and roll with it

I read your link. So in brief, you're saying that there's no difference whether you start training for strength or hypertrophy? Strength comes with size?

    Nearly

It always does anyway - but the muscles trained and the weight used vary once you start specialising in bodybuilding vs. other strength or power related sports.

I remember about 5 months ago when I started lifting, I could barely pull 35 pounds on the lat pulldown machine. Now I can pull like 120 pounds, am I getting stronger?
