The current crisis in the NHS is due to a conservative conspiracy over the last decade to underfund it to the point of collapse so that the private sector can take an ever larger role.
Aging population also taking it's toll as the retirement age is lagging the average age increases and oldies obviously need more care. The other huge thing is recruitment, it's very hard for them to recruit enough staff with all the cuts to bursaries etc. This has all been compounded by brexit and will be far more down the line as the NHS recruits heavily from abroad and we're busy making our country a far less attractive place to live, work and settle to.
But we're very proud of our health service and don't give a **** what foreigners, especially Americans, think about it. I've had my life saved more than once and seen the same for close family and friends. They do amazing work even when stretched to breaking point. Will happily pay a tax increase to help fund it better under a more sane future government.Gymnastics / Oly Lifting / BJJ / Kickboxing /

I can see it already, the talking point about the conservative conspiracy, liberals in the US using this same sorry ass excuse when their system starts to fail. Anything to avoid blame, thats all they do. Everything liberals/socialists touch here goes to chit, and they have laundry lists of excuses as to why it's never their fault. That mentality bleeds down into the common liberal on the street, lack of personal responsibility.
I'm glad you like your system, please keep that chit an ocean away from us and your ridiculous tax rates too. I'm sure the vast majority of my fellow Americans feel the same.

It's a different situation. It is undeniable that our health service has been neglected over the last decade of Tory rule. It isn't an excuse or blaming when it is true and all the evidence is there. Not enough staff, not enough resources, not enough hospitals, not enough beds.

Complete nonsense from the British perspective. NHS performance has dropped across the board in the last ten years - the same timescale that we've had a conservative government which has only become further right and more libertarian throughout that period.
Things immediately started getting worse after the 2012 (conservative) Healthcare act, in the previous decade we were widely regarded as having one of the most efficient healthcare systems in the world, better than France, Canada and Germany. Massive cuts to healthcare spending, and the often ignored bit important knock on effects of cuts to other social services are so obviously the cause that it seems ridiculous to even be pointing it out.
And the hilarious thing - all that our dumb ass corrupt government do STILL is desperately try to blame the opposition - when they have been in power for a decade!!!! The level of hypocrisy for the right to bleat about personal responsibility when all they do is demonize and blame the centre/left for their own failings is mind blowing.
Great, fine, I do not care about American internal politics to the extent that they do not affect me, and i am happy to pay taxes to invest into the common success of my country provided they are being used wisely. Many of your fellow citizens do care though and are seriously unhappy with their healthcare options.
When all is said and done, I wish you good health and that both our healthcare systems improve in the future.Last edited by Slayermanlet; 11-14-2019 at 09:51 PM.

Nobody dies waiting for insulin unless they are an idiot. Yes some of the newer longer acting ones have co-pays but most of them are essentially free with insurance. If you're really hard up, there are literally specific ones you can buy with no RX for next to nothing at any pharmacy.
Anyway.
Nobody in the US is dying from poor healthcare. It's become a major inconvenience because of how complicated Obamacare made the insurance system. I worked selling health insurance prior to the law and I've seen the chit show after.
Yes, if you are retarded and have NO insurance, because you refuse to sign up for what is now basically free coverage for the poor and vastly subsidized coverage for the lower middle class, you might have financial consequences. That's life. Better than destroying a healthcare system that works for 90% of people.480s / 370b / 495d / 235 x 2 SOHP

Well, you don't see cancer patients there having to choose whether to get treatment or keep a roof over their kids' heads. While the system there is far from perfect, it is very lacking here when insurance companies can, and do, deny cancer treatment and reconstruction to a woman.

Amen. UK spends £120 billion on the NHS while US healthcare spending tops $3.6 trillion and the math wizzes that are US republicans tell everyone how expensive and inefficient the NHS is and if someone rightly points out that its underfunded, that's just a "liberal excuse". The absolute state of Americans.

Sure you do. You are a liar and everyone knows it.
You come here with your socialist bullshiit and demand everyone accept it. That is a scam, but you are far from an artist. It is fun to challenge your bullshiit. France and Sweden experimented with socialism and dropped it because it failed miserably, but asses like you keep promoting it. I don't know anyone who appreciates your posts. Maybe a couple of ignorant far left free-loaders like you possibly.
You always seem to devolve any thread you post in.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

I am so intimidated.
By the way, are you even aware that France and Sweden WERE socialist? Past tense because it was a massive failure for both.

Lol why would you think I want to intimidate you?
I don't give a **** about debating it here, it's pointless, no one can change your or my mind. The actual change tho, is coming, whether you like it or not. You can post 1000 articles on here, but all for jack. As I've said it's futile.
You're just wasting time. Better spend that time getting Donnie re-elected.
