Microsoft Japan has announced the results of its 4-day work week trial, and it will shock no-one to know the experiment was hugely popular with the company's employees. What may surprise people is that the shortened week increased productivity by almost 40 percent — thanks in part to shorter, more efficient meetings.

This has been known for a while, lots of companies in Europe are already starting to cut the work week down.

The US is a bizarre case where chronically depressed puppets compete to see who can be a bigger wage slave ("you only work 5o hours a week? And they are probably far less stressed with three days off every week, have more time to spend with their families and just get stuff done. Even if you had to work ten hour days I'd much rather do that. Not surprised at all, they were probably all thinking if they killed it they would get to keep the option.

Worked 9-4's in my teens and it was the bee's knees. Also worked some 12-3's back then and that made for some long days.

I used to put in 100 hour work weeks back when I first started IM. It burned me out rather quickly. Working without rest days isn't healthy.
