    In Body Body Scan fat%

    Hi all

    Just wondering how accurate the In Body Machines are.

    I've done a few scans now and comparing myself to the photos online of where body fat % should be, I feel I am less than what the scanner says I am

    Can you please have a look at my profile pic and say what body fat % you'd say I am?

    Probably more likely the photos are higher than they say they are. Photos are inaccurate because it depends on how much muscle is underneath.
    From the photo I'd say maybe 13%, but as I said they're inaccurate. What does the machine say?

    Then again, knowing your bf% is useless as well. Seriously - what does a number tell you? Not much. You can decide for yourself if you want to be leaner or are willing to get softer during off season or whatever. A number doesn't tell you about distribution it individual differences.

    The machine says 20.7%.... it was quite demotivating as I thought I had dropped in body fat % but I was 20.9% before. I use it more as a guidance to make sure I'm doing the right thing as appearances can be subjective, e.g. when u r confident, u might feel u look better than before when u aren't actually

    Try using body measurements and photos instead. There are more accurate BF testing methods like DEXA scans, but they are pricey.

    Amazon has these self-measurement tape measures for under $5. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BMY8P0E

    You wrap it around and then hit the button and it retracts - it's something you can do yourself. I bought a skinfold tester, but it's extremely inaccurate doing it myself. You really need someone trained on how to do it.

    No problem. My coach has me do 3 photos (front, back, side), scale readings and measurements. Photos once a week, daily scale readings and monthly measurements.
    It's kinda hard to be objective on photos yourself...but if you're looking to lose bodyfat and you are losing scale weight, waist size is going down and you are looking better...you are on the right track.
