What kind of "serious" racing we talking about here? Mexico?

The GT4 mustang and the steeda race mustang both use cross plane cranks due to the shortcomings of the GT350 crank. Large flat plane cranks are still not a great idea.

Magazine results are magazine results so chances are they were just sandbagging the gt350 to start with. I assume anytime anyone says "magazine results" it's taken with sarcasm like it is on other car forums lol.

They're already developing twin turbo setup's for the NA LT2 lol. Good luck to the competition. And there's still PD superchargers like magnuson that's ready to go into C8's when customers get them.

You're looking at 600hp+ with an 8k supercharger, in a mid engine car with a DCT lol......and only 8lbs of boost.

And that's for the base model. The aftermarket support has already started for the twin turbo DOHC V8 for GM and it's not even out yet lmao. But somehow these companies already know what's coming, so they're ready lol.

The C8 is a game changer. The GT500 and GT are beasts no doubt. I even said i almost got a GT but the engine tick turned me off. But this C8 is the real deal. And i'm not just saying that because i'm a vette guy.

    10/10.
The c8 is a basically a 70k+ base car (the absolute bare bones builds are going to be few and far between) so the base car build and finish is way higher than the GT500 which has the EcoPoor $25k poverty chick model as it's base spec.

I was amazed to see the same awful plastic parts that look like they came off a 90's rental car in the GT500 - they even have the hilariously awful light unit in the cabin as the GT which looks about 20 years old

This. The corvette has never been known to have the best interiors. But the C7 interior was a huge upgrade from the C6. The C6 interior is trash. The C7 is ok. But definitely in the right direction. My C7Z 3+ years later and everything is still solid. No rattles, vibrations, and the car is a sports car with 25 profile tires, and i keep my mag ride in sport 90% of the time. Meanwhile the jeep GC lease i just gave back, interior was rattling 6 months from first leasing the car. The GT i drove a while back, was rattle and vibration galore. I even commented on that like a year ago.

The sad part about mustangs is while the higher trim levels are awesome, ford made too many trim levels. So from a distance you can either be driving an ecoboost, or a GT500 lol. And not many would know.

When you drive a corvette, even the base has a V8 lol. And with the C8 base, "supposedly" running 11.2 stock? Sheesh. I can't wait for the z06.

Yes, but really the mustang is meant to compete economically with the camaro even though it it races GT4 against vipers and vetts with an occasional win.

No doubt there are obvious economic downsides to buying the gt500, it doesn't make sense. But if someone has a mustang and wants to see just how far it can go then the gt500 fulfills that. That may not seem like it would work out business wise but since so many people buy mustangs more people are curious about the potential of the platform so the adoption rate of the GT500 doesn't have to be high. Also, ford does actually suck at business.

Of course, i agree. The mustang and the corvette should never be categorized in the same class.

But someone brought up the C8 and i think it was you that said slap a supercharger on a coyote engine and watch it beat the C8. I then said, what happens if the C8 owner slaps a SC on his C8? It will be faster, more usable, because of the mid engine layout, over the GT w/SC, a GT350 and a new GT500 (stock). And IMHO, will look better.

Also lettuce be cereal, people who will buy a C8 or a GT500 are not going to daily it, so chances are they're both going to be used on the weekend, so practicality the mustang has over the corvette is almost irrelevant. It's going to be pampered and cared for with the most selective mentality in terms of when it gets taken out. Same with the C8.

Plus the GT500 SHOULD be faster than a C8 base, it has over 200hp more lol. But there's no denying how impressive the C8 base is. We can only wonder how much more amazing the z06/zr1 trims will be like.

That's why i feel that the only people who will buy the GT500 are mustang fans, or people who REALLY need that backseat.

But if owners have more options, meaning having a dedicated weekend toy, i would think more than half of people shopping for a toy around that price range, will pick the C8.

I was amazed to see the same awful plastic parts that look like they came off a 90's rental car in the GT500 - they even have the hilariously awful light unit in the cabin as the GT which looks about 20 years old
The absolute barebones C8 starts at $60k so not sure what you’re talking about. Out the door will still be several grand under $70k. Way cheaper than the barebones $74k Mustang and you’re behind the wheel of a mid engine legit super car.

Only the most retarded boomer is going to spend 60k and taxes on a brand new vette and pass on magneride and the eLSD, cooling etc and go with a new-balance/jean shorts base, the real base is going to be about 70k with the bare minimum specs for anyone who plans to enjoy the car

The point is the gt500 is at its heart a heavily modded $25k chitbox with panel gaps and rattling hard plastic trim, while the c8 base is as close to luxury as you're going to get.

I don't see the point in the gt500 at all since mine is at least as fast with the same tires, and cost about 50k all in. I can live with chitbox quality in a 50k monster, but for 110k++ it's a joke to have dated hard plastic that doesnt even clip into place properly

Agreed. Magride and ELSD are a must. Those who have driven C7's, especially the Z/ZR1's will really know how much both are needed in a high performance application.

I wouldn't call the GT500 a chitbox. But then again i never owned a mustang. I can only go by the little seat time i had with a few of them. I do hate the interior rattles and vibration though. That would annoy the phuck out of me everytime i go for a drive.

But even if you select no options, the GT500 can be had for 74k, BEFORE dealer markup. I think that's about the same price as a C8 with Z51 and dealer markup.

But with options and the GT500 can get to 90k+ easily. If that's the case, you might as well just wait for the C8Z. I believe it'll start at 90k. Or 100k with some options and dealer markup.

And if you compare both the C8Z and GT500, that is a complete no brainer. With the widebody, bigger, fatter tires, mid layout DOHC engine, DCT, all the aero, it's going to be a legit supercar. For 100k.
Schooling everyone that has to do with automotive one brah at a time. It's tiring but someone gotta do it lol

I have a manual car but auto IS WAY BETTER THESE DAYS. ACCEPT THE FACTS BRAHS! LOL

Youll be hard pressed to fine sub 70 or even sub 80 grand C8s on the lot. And mid engine or not the Corvette is not and will never be a supercar.

Base Corvettes (non-GS/Z06/ZR1) accounted for 40% of sales. Of those 40%, 68% were 1LTs, 25% were 2LTs, and 7% were 3LT. Only 15% of Base Corvettes are Z51 packaged. 77% of all C7s were automatics (70% for ZR1 and Z06 owners).

C7 saw the highest rate of 1LTs ever.
