I recently acquired a significant amount of money that I'd like to invest. The plan is to put this away and not think about it too much for several years. I'm looking to maximize long-term growth potential. Retirement accounts are already maxed so this is separate from those.
Here's what I'm thinking in terms of where to sock this away:
30% in VTSAX
30% in large-cap mutual funds (possibly VDEQX, any other suggestions?)
30% in small-cap mutual funds (particularly looking at Russell 2000 for this, welcome other ideas)
10% in crypto
What do you think? Anything else I should think about, like ETFs or the SPX? Welcome any input.

This is too much overlap.
That's like investing:
30% in PB&J Sandwiches
30% in Peanut Butter
30% in Jelly
VTSAX is already around 80% Large Cap and 20% Small Cap
Go with the 90% VTSAX if you're hell bent on doing crypto. Personally for long-term growth I would do 100% VTSAX and not mess with crytpo.US Army

Why the large cap and small cap on top of VTSAX? VTSAX is 85% large cap already. If you wanna overweight small-cap, go with S&P 500 index and then extended market index at different ratios. I would just go VTIAX, VTSAX and maybe some REIT index (like 10% or so).
Which cryptos and why those cryptos? Crypto is really gambling, so I'd stay far away unless it's just play moneyGreen Bay Packers-Milwaukee Brewers

I was thinking it would be more diverse to do large cap and small cap... but I am learning from this thread and from additional research that this is not quite the case. Thanks for steering me straight boyos. VTIAX is something I will look at a bit more.
Crypto: Bitcoin for the "serious" chunk of the money, may maintain a small play money fund for sh!tcoins but yeah it's just gambling. Bitcoin makes sense to me though, have been in it for a while (in smaller amounts).

"several years" is not long term. 30+ years is generally considered long term. The question is how comfortable are you with a large potential drawdown.
The answer to this question is about how much risk you're willing to take. Are you okay with your investment being 30-50% lower in 5 years time?ð•®ð–ð–†ð–˜ð–Š ð–† ð–ˆð–ð–Šð–ˆð•¶, ð–“ð–Šð–›ð–Šð–— ð–ˆð–ð–†ð–˜ð–Š ð–† ð–‡ð–Žð–™ð–ˆð–
