I like that definition. The American Civil War had very clear lines (slavery/secession). I feel it's much more blurry this time as there are so many divisive issues... and not all of them fall cleanly on one "side" or another.

Earlier this year I began to see that full civil war was possible. There are more leftists/Dems among the military than I realized and they are heavy in the deep state, intel services, and Pentagon, and the civilian weapons training programs and other preps of the leftist militant groups like Redneck Revolt and antifa and La Raza and others are also eye-opening.

There would be enough of both sides to form at least two separate armies (or more than two like Syria) and engage in full scale warfare across the nation battling for control of key targets like military bases, cities, airports, power stations, communications/internet facilities, media offices, etc.

Then within the past few months my view changed as the events have changed that it's now not only possible but more likely that not(greater than 50% probability) within the next next 5 years.

It's probably a good idea to prepare for the possibly anyway even if you don't believe that - in all ways that you might think you need to. That's what I'm doing. I live in an isolated close knit rural community of ~200 ppl in 70 households with everything it needs to survive on it's own should it get that bad, and to defend itself in whatever breakdown of security might happen. I feel sorry for any of you in the cities should this happen. That's not where I'd want to be. Even if you're not in an area of intense warfare the violent criminal activity would probably increase significantly along with things like lone wolf terrorists.

I can see a "cold" civil war happening. There wont be any shooting, but I'm not going to say there wont be violence. It could get nasty.

It's not that simple. It wouldn't be pantyfa vs Proud Boys fighting it out in the streets.

It would be a split between two factions of the gov and military, with all the things that come with full scale military combat, with all the country's military weaponry being pulled into the war and split between two sides. Similar to what happened in Ukraine in Syria.

It's all fun and games until the artillery starts.

Unfortunately I don't think the idea is that far off. We're currently at a stage where one party has been trying to invalidate the election of the opposition's candidate for multiple years running. Maybe we're not there now but it's honestly not too far fetched from this point

The West is falling apart because socialism has destroyed it. Politicians, for decades, have pitted one group against the other and this has created a divide and polarization that will lead to civil uprising. It is no surprise to believe that the 2020 elections will be the most violent since the 1960s as neither side will accept the results.
I'd say a decade from now, the financial capitals of the world will be in China and Russia. Not the USA and Europe.
