    The Game Changers

Any of you seen "The Game Changers" on Netflix? Pretty much trying to show that switching to an all plant based diet and getting your protein through them gives you all this energy, endurance, etc. To me it looks like most of the guys they interviewed were people who required endurance. There were a couple power lifters in there, but it seems strange. Any thoughts?

They present research, and then twist it to fit their agenda.

If you feel like not consuming meat, etc, that's fine... but it's not going to 'help' you be stronger or more athletic unless what you're currently eating is harming your health.
The power of carbs compels me!

It's a pretty safe generalization to say that Netflix diet "documentaries" are pseudoscientific, biased, agenda-driven trash.

Just watched it today. Aside from what's already mentioned, a few things stood out as being especially idiotic:

-Stating that since animal feed is supplemented with B12 because the soils are depleted of the bacteria that produce B12, everyone including meat eaters should just be supplementing with B12 anyways. WTF?
-Stating that iceberg lettuce has more antioxidants than salmon, while ignoring that salmon is the one of the best sources of Omega 3s, which are non-existent in sufficient and bioavailable quantities in the plant kingdom. There was no mention of Omega 3s in the entire documentary, wonder why? Lol
-The false dichotomies implied throughout the documentary, as if this were a vegan vs carnivore debate. For example, saying that meat eaters being short of glycogen because they don't eat enough carbs.
-Stating that most agricultural land is for animal production. This is true only because most land is not suitable for plant agriculture production, while hoofed animals can graze almost anywhere.

There's far more, but those are the few that really jumped out at me. As for the powerlifter who claimed he got bigger and stronger . . . . Maybe he also got fatter from all of the extra calories consumed in order to get sufficient protein?

Hard to say but I expect they're also driven by 'good' intentions like making a positive impact on the climate or maybe animal welfare.

Why they then feel the need to misrepresent information I'm not sure. I think they're believing they'll be more persuasive this way.

You'll see this tendency by some of the keto fans on this forum too.

James Cameron is a huge vegan advocate. I listened to him and his wife on Tim Ferris, where they said even more idiotic crap than what was in this film (hard to believe, I know). They even said that there is protein in iceberg lettuce, which is true, yet they failed to mention just how much lettuce on would have to eat in order to even reach RDA levels. They also had the nerve to talk about how unsustainable meat consumption is and how it would be impossible for all of the world to consume meat the way Americans do, while they also live in a 9000 square foot mansion in Malibu. In addition to who knows how many vacation properties they probably own.

That said, I don't think the movie had much of an impact. The timespan from theatre debut, to purchase on iTunes, and to free on the Netflix movie graveyard was a matter of weeks. Although I don't think the producers were in in for the money, and were probably willing to take a loss in order to get the word out.
