Hope the Syria ceasefire works out for the best.

Just a question. Did Turkey come to a ceasefire bc of this letter from 8 days ago or bc they accomplished what they wanted in regards to the border? It doesn’t seem likely that the Oct 8 letter was the reason for the Oct 17 ceasefire when the letter was sent before/right around when Turkey was invading.

If Forest Gump can get rich and win at ping pong then Donald Trump can pull out a win sometimes, too.
None of this stuff takes any great genius anyways. I was pushing this solution (use Turkey to force Kurds back to Damascus and end the war) back in 2018, after Trump's 2nd attempt to withdraw from Syria. The powers that be managed to reverse the withdrawal at that time (2018) so we didn't see this scenario play out. But it wasn't like this was some crazy surprise.
What played out this week was the serious, realistic solution to ending the Syrian civil war that had already been talked about last year extensively. We've had this exit strategy available for awhile. This is the best possible outcome for Syria, Europe and the United States, actually.

my guess is that we (Trump) already knew there was going to be a cease fire. He sent the letter to make the libs go all in attacking trump and calling him an idiot (like the dumb libs in this thread). then boom, release that there has in fact been a cease fire and the libs exposed even more bigly for their incurable TDS.
The military industrial complex was profiting from the way. Obama had no interest in ending it.-You are only as strong as your weakest link-

Because he's a b*tch. Obama bent over for the usual suspects (military industrial complex, neocon\Jew lobby, Saudi lobby, pressure from chicken hawks in both parties, etc). I don't think he wanted to be in Syria either, but he was unwilling to endure the withering barrage from the entire media and political class that he knew would ensue. Trump, on the other hand, loves a good sh*tstorm.
This is often a negative trait, but not in this case.
Anyway Trump managed to pull out in a way that saves face for everyone, ensures the Kurds don't get genocided, and ensures ISIS cannot return. Kurd and ISIS issues are addressed at no cost to ourselves, and the mass killing can finally end. How can you really complain?
