Ok, the title of my post is somewhat disrespectful, the guy has just broken a barrier of human endurance which like the 4 minute mile was said to be impossible, a marathon (26.2 miles, or 42.4km) in less than 2 hours was also "impossible" Respect to him!
Maybe it will be possible in an open marathon without a pace car, because sadly his achievement doesn't count as the official marathon record due to the record definition.
Just don't say "that's not bad, but whadaya bench bro?"

I read comments dismissing his achievement earlier today. I would bet that the people spewing that negative rubbish are people who've never lifted their big old arses off their couches long enough to go anywhere but the pantry. Regardless of the fact that he ran it alone, had pacers, it was flat terrain, the lasers etc. etc. etc., he ran a full marathon in under two hours and that is huge. He deserves the accolade. Well done, skinny armed man!
I am one of the 3%.
I am one of the 1 in 8.

I'm not going to waste time on someone that endlessly talks out of their ass. In all of history, less than 2 dozen American males have run a marathon in less than 2 hours and 10 minutes. Dozens of Kenyans do that on a monthly basis. I'd make a joke about the heavy vests and sled running, but what you said is funny enough.

OK Supramax,
Generally runners from Kenya don't, but that don't mean it won't help them run faster and here is a blog, but it never mentions super high rep squats with very light weights.

Is it all about being a cookie cutter mindset?

Hmmm... I hadn't thought of it that way. You're right I'm inconsistent.
I was uncomfortable with your leg pic posting yet I've gone and made fun of his arms in the media pics.
I think you've got me there: I don't have a good answer to that
be careful... whilst I'm sure it's great advice, trainkenya is about rich westerners who enjoy running but are not at a high level, vacationing in Kenya. It's not the authoritative training advice from Kenya's elite runnersLast edited by OldFartTom; 10-14-2019 at 04:31 AM.

This. Most of the Kenyan sub 2:10 marathoners have never touched a weight.
"They don’t lift weights. Or do yoga. They just run. “To run fast you need to run,” says Wilkins. "

But for this last training block, Kipchoge did some gym aerobics type stuff and weights for a short cycle.

btw, he posted day to day details of his training leading up to his world record in Berlin. He's been very open about his training.Last edited by Gabbar99; 10-14-2019 at 02:36 PM.

Man,,these Kenyan/Nigerian are world's elite long distance runners, bar none. It's in their genes.
My 15 yr old daughter got into cross country varsity team last year at her school and she does 2-3 miles daily and also working with a coach.
School just got a Kenya girl this year and she's wrecking all kinda records without any professional coaching/training. My daughter is good friends with her and apparently, all she did was "walk/run to school 5 days week back home and the school was 5 KM from home". LOL.________________________________________________________
