    Weak bench press

    Gents,

29M, 163 lbs, 5’6” I’ve been lifting for 6 months now on strong lifts 5x5, below are my stats:

    Squat: 240lbs x4x2
    Deadlift: 285lbs x5x1
    Bench: 130lbs x2x2

You can see that my bench is pretty weak, been that way for a while now. I was stuck on 125, but to try to break the barrier I am doing smaller sets of 130. Im also increasing how often I bench, doing twice a day three times a week.

Do you guys think I could do anything else to improve my numbers, maybe accessory lifts or increase reps at lower weight to about 8-10 reps per set? I’m eating at maint, 2400 cals a day, in an effort to burn excess body fat. My other lifts continue to improve linearly; just the bench is lagging.

I also believe my form is correct. I drive with my legs, keep a slight arch, glutes planted on bench, shoulders retracted, etc...

Another possibility is due to time limitations I don’t do shoulder presses, imagine that would help.

    Thanks,
    N00b

2 times a day and 3 times a week is to much in my opinion

I would suggest benching twice a week. One heavy day and then a lighter day
    Best lifts
    600/450/485 multi ply
    550/400/510 single ply
    420/305/480 raw
