    What do you want Trump to do - send in a massive delpoyment of U.S. forces? Without the help of our NATO allies that are not turkey?

    Here's something I didn't know, and it provides context for the US withdrawal: the Syrian government and opposition are meeting in Geneva as a constitutional convention to write a new constitution to be put to the vote of the Syrian people, ahead of UN-supervised elections.

    Given that the Syrian people are organising a peaceful settlement, why would we wish to perpetuate their conflict? Leave them to it.
