Yeah basically. The people like us on forums discussing games and the industry, and being more aware of the "behind the scenes" of the games we buy is a small minority of gamers.

The vast majority of console gamers are people who are very casual and probably just don't care about this stuff. They simply aren't into video games enough to care. And the massive amount of parents blindly purchasing stuff for their kids, again, without knowing much about it.

Imagine how many parents bought their kids Spiderman 2 thinking nothing of it. That game is a prime example of the problem.. You can basically summarize most issues in the gaming industry these days with leftism. I think freeburn is correct. Gaming is too big now and the quality of the industry is suffering for it. There is not enough incentive for a company to make a high quality game with excellent mechanics and racy content any more. The majority of gamers are no longer horny nerdy men who want to use games to play out their sci fi or fantasy stories. A company can just throw together a pandering woke storyline and have millions of people buy the game and call them strong and brave.

It's not just with fantasy or racy content in story games though. Look at sports games. The people who bought those games and allowed those games to succeed and thrive were all people who played franchise modes or head to head with normal teams. Now franchise modes get neglected and devs pour all their money and resources into ultimate team modes because a few whales will spend thousands of dollars every year on them. It's also the reason twitch shooters are the only thing devs make any more and there are no casual shooters that are like the old school COD and Battlefield games.
