The Uncharted and God of War trilogies are the main games I turned my music off to play because I loved the cinematic cutscenes and sound tracks so much. Both were so enthralling.

Uncharted 4 and God of War I didn’t like nearly as much as the originals.

So I stared GoW last night. I never played any of the others, so maybe it would answer this.
Why does it seem like he doesn't know **** about his son and I assume his wife? Asking if he knows how to hunt, didn't know he could read glyphs, etc, etc.

It’s been awhile so I don’t really remember anymore at this point but he is pretty much a chitty dad who let mom do most of the work.

Kratos is literally the defination of hatred and anger so I do not see him being the best father figure like the poster above mentioned.
I would go back and play the remastered versions, worth it for sure.

The "legacy of violence" thing is a major part of the story of GOW, maybe go back and read a quick synopsis of the original games?

ok first impressions... the japanese voices are FAR more superior. doesn't feel or sound like a kids' game in japanese. cloud's japanese voice actor is so good. i know him from a lot of shows. BUT the translations are soooo ****ing off if you know a little japanese. way off, none of the japanese lines are translated, i think it's just taken from the english script. so i think you should know some japanese if playing with japanese voices.

and the download to play was only about 45gb for some reason.

Thanks for the heads up. I learned Spanish in school, I had to. I learned Japanese because it was my idea. My life’s goal used to be to live there, and be the worlds goat gaijin.

I want to enjoy ffvii though. So hoping it’s 10/10.

yeah it's kind of disappointing... the japanese voice acting is so good but there aren't translations, just subtitles for the english audio lol. they changed a lot of what the characters are saying. like jessie says thanks or much appreciated in japanese, but in english she says good luck!

not sure why they didn't use some previous square enix english voice actors for the english audio. like the kingdom hearts voice cast

he is my rival, we are almost equal except he tops me by having a nintendo switch and being allowed to play more japanese games than me. but i top him in amount of anime i have watched, my beginner japanese language skills, and my yearly weeb travels to japan.

though he may have access to more japanese games than me, i as an experienced jrpg player, i buy the DLCs for the jrpgs like cosmetics and ****. as far as i know he doesn't buy DLCs and so he is not on my level yet.

i'm actually not that big of an FF7 fan though lol, it's awesome but I think for most people it's nostalgia.

can confirm ff7 remake is the best game i've played on ps4 overall. they did a ****ing amazing masterful job. well worth the $90 i paid. played like 12hrs straight yesterday didn't want to stop. wanted to go past midnight but once i cross that line there no goin back. it definitely did not screw the original up, i think by the end it's definitely on par and works for this new gen, perfect ****ing remake, a LOT of voice acting and dialogue and character development. you actually still have the turn based feeling. like you need to strategize or you'll get wiped even in normal mode. i'm constantly stopping, thinking, and using party members abilities and spells

from what i've seen from the map, and what i've completed, it looks to be at minimum 40 hours gametime, all sidequests completed, i'm thinking about 50-60 hours... just a wild guess though. i hit the 10hour mark and i was like still in the starting area. which seems to be 1/6th? of the world map. and the story has it's own maps.

so far I completely agree with the 10/10 reviews coming out. and all this praise from me is coming from a guy who didn't care much for the original.

Im a huge FF8 fanboy but FF7 is up there as well. I'm going to take my time with the game. I got the Horizon Zero Dawn DLC recently so I started over the main game from scratch so I can play it and the DLC in one go before FF7. I have to say, Horizon is the best PS4 game I've played. Usually when a game focuses on one aspect such as story, it is weaker in another like combat. In this, both aspects are super strong, the world is BEAUTIFUL and open and the DLC is HUGE being it's own stand alone story. I'm just finishing up farming to max level, completing some final errands and equipping my best gear before I complete the final mission.

Can't wait for FF7

i'm 20 hours in. i think i'm still not at the midpoint of the game. fights are getting harder and i only have aerith, blasted through all my potions like nothing. there's a whole strategy thing to the fights, you have to think about them, discounting the mob units, but even the mob units can be difficult. boss fights are like... actual difficult boss fights lol. this game brought back boss fights perfectly.

and cloud is hot no homo if i was a girl i'd be wet all the time

I think it was overrated as well, not that it wasn't better than RDR2, but I hear some people call it the best PS4 game which I think it surely falls short of that. And when I hear people rave about the story I just dunno what they played. There were some tremendous scenes in the cabin and with the witch lady but kinda flat overall for me, and that kid was super annoying, I just wanted to put my axe through his skull. Still easily in my top 5 games this gen though.

So Square-enix decide to go full Kingdom Hearts with the ending, wtf was that chit? Seriously I don’t even know wtf happened, now I can understand the controversy everyone was talking about. Should have just kept it exactly the same as the original. Speaking of the original, might give it another playthrough, it’s one of the few old games I can play a thousand times.

Honestly I saw nothing about the story or the combat, etc, that made it better than RDR2. Not even sure it would make my top 5 for PS4, srs.

I am so hype man but DBZ Kakarot has my attention now. This is the DBZ game I have been waiting for all my life (srs)

FFVII is the GOTY.

And this is coming from someone who played FFVII on his PS1 back in the day with 3 discs and replayed a few times as an adult.

The multiple parts thing was a good call IMHO. Well worth the wait (and money) if they put as much effort and attention to detail in future releases.

In the original game the Midgar section wasn't as long and probably the least interesting portion of the game. The remake is a new game but has it's own twists and additions, but the general plot/events is the same.

Once you get out of Midgar the game really shines. But for some reason it's hard to imagine them keeping that open world with the same towns. But I sure hope they do
