Upcoming PlayStation 5 Exclusive Targeting 240fps





The PlayStation 5 is set to release this holiday season, and right now we don't know many of the games that will be releasing alongside it. We know of games like Godfall and Outriders, but none of these are system sellers. What are system sellers are PlayStation's exclusive titles. Right now, rumors have suggested a plethora of titles will be at the launch of the console, including a remake of Demon's Souls, a reboot of SOCOM, Horizon Zero Dawn 2, a new Ratchet & Clank, a sequel to The Order 1886, and a new Gran Turismo. Now whether any of these games will be at the launch of the next-gen PlayStation console, who knows. I have a good idea about a few of them, but that's another story. For now, nobody is talking about these hypothetical projects, well, except the next Gran Turismo.

Recently, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi talked about the future of the long-running racing series, noting that on the PS5, the team is not worried about resolution as much as frame rate. More specifically, the team is looking at raising the bar from 60 to 120 fps or even 240 fps.

“Rather than a spatial resolution that you’re talking about, I’m more interested in the advancements we can make in terms of the time resolution," said Yamauchi during a recent round-table discussion with the Australian media. "In terms of frames per second, rather than staying at 60 fps, I’m more interested in raising it to 120 fps or even 240 fps. I think that’s what’s going to be changing the experience from here on forward.”

Meanwhile, Yamauchi also suggested that 4K resolution is more than enough. In other words, scuttlebutt of next-games hitting 8K doesn't seem to tickle the fancy of the studio boss.

As you may know, the latest game in the series, Gran Turismo Sport, can hold 60 fps on the PS4 Pro and on performance mode. So, the fact that the team is thinking it can bring the frame rate to possibly 240 fps, well that suggests the PS5 is packing some serious power.

The leaker that predicted XsX would be 12 Terafloppers is predicting PS5 to be 10. So I think out of all the leaks and rumors that one holds the most weight at this point now that half has been confirmed by MS, and it's derived from real benchmarking data.

I hope it's wrong or that Sony has been hiding a PS5 Pro but it's looking bleak at this point, at least until Sony says something. Wonder how long they stay quiet.

As far as multiplats go, not really. Pretty much just waiting atm. I did pick up the x1x for some older stuff but I have to say, I really hate navigating the xbox dashboard.

I'm anti -PC so here is my biased opinion. I'm not a nerd so dealing with hardware upgrades, driver upgrades, compatibility issues, a dozen different launchers, discord, etc is just a nightmare to me and for those reasons alone I am probably out on PC compared to picking up my Xbox or PSN controller and having all my games, friends, communities, etc in one easy place where everything just works seamlessly. Beyond that I have thought about getting a PC for Single Player games, is dealing with all that worth the increase in performance? Well not for me, but if it was this past gen there are PS exclusives I wouldn't have wanted to miss out on so I'd still need a PS. In addition, I really enjoy multiplayer games, TLoU, PUBG, etc and bedsides that fact I can't even play a game like TLoU on PC, just the thought of battling Mouse and Keyboard nerds with my controller on PUBG makes my blood boil, it is not going to be a good time.

As much money I spent on this gen on 4 Xbox ones, 2 switched and 2 ps4 I could’ve had a high end pc many times I choose not to. I don’t because besides wow I don’t want to play much on pc. I don’t have a desk even anymore not in my home. But yeah just saying I could’ve and could still have a pc but it’s just not for me.

I beat 1 boss every 2 nights but I fear the latter bosses I’ll beat one of them I want to say.... every 3-4 nights?

I'll probably actually play SoC now.

Go into SoC blind as much as you can. It's as much about the mood and atmosphere as it is the gameplay. It's one of the first and strongest arguments for games as art.

It's sub-10 hours even if you farm the stamina increasing item. It's nothing but boss fights, there are no enemies besides the colossi. Definitely worth playing thru you'll be done in two or three nights.

Now, according to new rumors and supposedly leaked information from NeoGAF (thanks, Game Rant) players now know that Sony is allegedly working on two different PlayStation 5 console versions for the next generation of their popular video game system. The information claims the lower-end version of the PS5 will have nine teraflops, while the other, more expensive one will likely have twelve or more in order to compete with the Xbox Series X, which will also twelve teraflops.

But Sont has been so fuming quiet about everything that I don't think its totally unreasonable to believe they may have been able to keep it a secret this whole time.

Although I cant say I really understand it from a sales standpoint. Why not sell all of them they can now and do a pro in 3 years or so knowing many people will buy one of those as well?

I think with MS releasing a low end and high end system at launch Sony will loose out on customers on the high and low ends if they only offer a middle of the road system.

^ I looked at possibly getting Siege during this sale and was so confused by the 2 dozen different versions of the game and what I should get that I just passed on it, lol. Ubi says a next gen version will be available at launch, maybe I get it for PS5/XseX.
