Hey guys and gals, hows it going? I'm going to cut stright to the point with this. My son was recently diagnosed with Autism and the doctor belive he is going to be non-verbal. I realize he is going to havd it tough all of his life and am going to fight for everything he wants to do. At this point your thinking what does this have to do with losing weight? I am 390 and morbidly obese. One of my dreams has always been to compete in a bodybuilding show abd win. I'm not sure if this is possible but I want to give it my all. Not for myself but my son. I want to show him whatever he wants to do he can do it just need to put the work in. This is where I hope the community can help. All my life I have been inactive and had crappy nutrition. I have no idea where to start or what to do. I'm ready to put in the work just need guidance. I plan to start this journey on 10-16-19 just because we are going on vacation and want to enjoy it to the fullest. I'm not sure what else is need to be known but feel free to ask anything I'm a open book. If your reading to this point I will say thank you and hope to hear from you.

Download a calory counting app. Count your calories for a week. Average out yoir daily consumption. Then start decresing the target calories by something like 200 cal a week till you start losing weight. Make sure you count correctly, weight the food and remember snacks, oils and sauces.
If you need help on healthy eating https://www.eatforhealth.gov.au
In terms of exercise, choose a fullbody program and plenty of cardio. Diet will be more important though

9-16-19 already happened so I'm confused by that part.
Pick up a free tracking app such as www.myfitnesspal.com or www.fitday.com
Track everything you consume (everything) every day. Record your morning bodyweight every day. If you are going to put off saving your life with weight loss awhile longer and keep eating the way you have been, you'll get an idea of what your current caloric intake is. Drop it by 500 calories per week until you are losing 2 lbs a week average bodyweight. Keep doing it. When you lose a noticeable amount of weight your calorie needs will go down so you'll hvae to reduce calories a bit as you go to keep the loss going
That's all it is. Eat less. Consume fewer calories. Simple. Not easy necessarily, but, simple

Especially since this post was posted twice this evening.
OP, I know a lot of people aren't keen on Instagram on this forum but there is a wealth of fitness information there, as well as on this site, on workouts for weight loss, weight loss maintenance, meal plans, bodybuilding sets, cardio routines etc. Really, there is so much information on the Internet.
The first step is setting your mind to doing this and following through with that commitment/decision. It IS possible. If you really want to succeed in this you will.I am one of the 3%.
I am one of the 1 in 8.

Always consider a newborn to be a blessing in your life. Use this as a wake up call as it sounds you are. Nutrition first and foremost is what you need to focus on with exercise being a secondary focus. For best results I would switch to a Ketogenic diet, this will change your life. Links below can you started on a veto diet without having to be a rocket scientist. As for exercise strength training and cardio combined will take you where you need to go. I'd recommend a trainer if you can afford it.
