Prime Anderson looked good because the division was very average at the time, the best striker Anderson beat was probably Vitor lol
Izzy was schooling fighting world class kickboxers and schooling them. Crossing over into heavyweight boxing as a middleweight and schooling them.
Izzy destroys "prime" Anderson, the striking is not comparable.
Jones beats Izzy with size, strength and wrestling.

we just gonna act like the Gastelum fight never happened?
Adesanya is legit but this was CLEARLY not the Whittaker that obliterated Jacare and beat prime Romero. He had only fought twice in nearly 2 and a half years due to serious injuries. The body is only capable of so much.
Prime Andy would beat Adesanya.

yeah the division was average but the guy had the most impressive win streak in the UFC beating top contender after top contender and beat a lot of legit guys on the way. also having bouts at LHW and being successful there. something that will never be mimicked
izzy didn't even destroy a geriatric Anderson Silva who's probably should have already been retired by now lmao

This, but we do have to admit he looked like an even better version than last time. He seems to be peaking while all his opponents are on a decline.
It will take one more win for me to jump on the hype train but it does look promising.
Its almost like as if he was sandbagging and then when it was time for the championship he just turned the volume up and let loose his true self.
Was even better and stronger.

I can’t buy into the hype until I see him deal with a guy who isn’t just content to stand and trade with him all fight long.
Izzy’s a talent without a doubt but I’m
cringing at guys like Rogan saying “he’s already one of the greatest ever”.
He’ll bring new eyes to the UFC for sure but he hasn’t been tested yet. Not truly.
Jones’ run was far more impressive imo.

Yeah exactly. Everyone he fought lately just all happen to be standing counterstrikers and never tried to do any ground stuff or serious takedown methods.
Gonna need to see a couple of tests, people are hyping a tiny bit too fast, cant compare to Jones and Khabib who are still there and still undefeated too.
Well I think Rob also lost to Wonderboy which is also a karate kickboxing method so theres that too. I guess that karate ish style is what counters his sloppy counter brawler style.
Brendan Shob was saying that he doesnt trust innactive people so you have examples like Habib and Dominic cruz, but then you have example where they do fall off from ring rust or injuries. Its not a hard rule I guess. But more often then not reality strikes. I dont care what he said, in fact its suspicious he needed to reiterate that because soemtimes you have to make youreself believe it because you dont feel it.
I can tell you one thing, the speed wasnt there, and thats the first to go if you relied on it.
Khabib relies on slow twich muscle fibers who (similar to myself) get stronger as they get older which is one of the rare upsides of aging. Cruz kinda had the pure skill and technique and element of surprise when he came back but quickly lost to cody who figured him out and was simply younger and quicker.
So I cant deny Bobby wasnt slower and looked weaker but also Adesanya was that skilled as well.
People want to say "OMG lets give credit to Gastellum" but in fact, i think he leveled up even more, he wasnt as effective in that fight. And even less in the exhibition with Silva.
This dude legit does Weeb Anime moves and references, theres a lot of power in that, it hints at an inner imagination and confidence of performance.

Yet he was physically in amazing shape both in terms of appearance and his own viewpoint. What happened was that Whittaker had an amazing matchup against Jacare and Romero, neither guy could take him down at all really and Rob had a huge striking advantage in terms of speed and footwork skills. That said, Rob clearly lost the second fight with Romero if you know the new rules.

A lot of cope in this thread. Whitaker didn't have the reach to land anything clean against Adesanya and that's not going to change. Kelvin Gastelum gave Adesanya a better fight because he mixed it up with the takedowns and gave him something else to think about instead of going toe to toe in a kickboxing match against a guy with a very impressive kick boxing record and a significant height and reach advantage.

not sure if you followed pride fc back in the heyday of mma. it was truly a spectacle and genki sudo has, to this day, the best entrances ever in mma.
