    Maybe a compination of carbohydrate and protein. Although many choices out there are very expensive. I would consider to make it on your own. Buy some sources of carb (glucose or maltodextrine) and some source of protein(whey, egg) and mix them

    in one spot you say you are eating 2,500 calories a day and then you say you are eating 1,500 calories a day. You need to get a grip one how much you are eating.

    I personally have taken weight gainers when I first started and they can work. I had no idea what I was doing and there was no forums like this but I gained a lot of muscle in a short time by being on a calorie surplus (mainly because I was very skinny to start). In an ideal world, food is always better, but for some the convenience of weight gainers will help. Back then I took Champion 900 Heavy weight gainer and the profile compared to today's gainers was likely poor but it likely helped put me in a calorie surplus.
