Question for trainers or experienced body builders
Why is it that the body builders today are extremely vascular and cut. Back in the Arnold days, the competitors were not nearly as ripped as they are today...
So what’s different?
The supplements?
The diet?

Am I allowed to use my own experience in natural bodybuilding to answers OP's question?
I don't remember exactly how many years it took for me to develop, specifically, good vascularity, muscle separation and shred in my upper body...because each body part progressed at a
different speed.
In speaking for myself, my upper body responded well in these areas, through hard consistent training, a generally clean diet and hard conditioning. My lower body stays shapely, sculpted and defined (not ripped) with my individual fitness/lifting regimen.
Certain "features" can be attributed naturally to work capacity/ethic, genetics and experience (dedication) through following a strength and goal-oriented lifting program consistently! The idea is to know (or discover) what your natural strengths/abilities are and how to use that potential...Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.

You're welcome! I should have also stated that it doesn't necessarily take "years to make these natural transformations." Some body parts can become ripped in a matter of months, depending on how little fat is stored there (ie; abs or back) and the (body) weight you start out at plays a role, as well. Very important to know when picking a plan.or "strategy."
