For hiw long have I been saying Tocchett is not fit to be a head coach in the nhl? It's been obvious since day 1

There is no reason that roster shouldnt at least make the playoffs in an outright terrible pacific division

I don't know, their roster still looks better bad to me. Carried by unreal goaltending. The Pacific isn't a terrible division, I don't know why people think it is, it's just competitive. Most of the season 5/8 of the playoff spots were Pacific teams. It's the 2nd best division in the league with 3 bad teams.

So Don's Weenie punted at the deadline basically, so he could retain cap space, to sign Torey Krug in the offseason, an "offensive defenseman" who has less even strength points than Brandon Carlo who is 100% as defensive of a defensive defenseman as there is. Torey Krug is a one trick pony powerplay specialist and a team that invests in him will lose, this is 2014 all over again. They are so in love with their "presidents trophy" bullchit status, and they will lose in the 2nd round if not the 1st. I fukking hate this team

This was all I needed to read to be reminded you don't know much about the game and just stat watch. Krug is one of the better PMDs we have had in a while. He has a lot of great D-zone breakouts, has improved significantly over the last year defensively and is a fantastic PP QB. Why do you just constantly look for things to be pissed off about? We could win the President's Trophy and the SCF and you'd still be pissed at something.

My point was if it’s the GM’s call to trade their 1st and a prospect to aquire Hall, playoffs is the expectation at that point. Really no excuse to pass on firing Tocchett especially with Laviolette available

Around the deadline it was obvious they weren’t making the post season and still nothing was hedged on that Hall gamble

Probably not deep, but they may surprise a little. I think there's too much other stuff to consider for a deep run.

They added some nice depth at the deadline and our supporting cast has been good since the new year.

They'll need their D to really gel and Smith to play lights out but it's definitely possible.

oilers don't have much of a shot. in terms of a deep run i can't see it with their 5-on-5 play. bruins last year proved they could go deep being reliant on a dominant PP and average 5-on-5 scoring, but the difference was that their 5-on-5 D was still dominant. oilers have average 5-on-5 scoring and one of the worst 5-on-5 defenses.

Penguins won the Cup with a terrible defense but they probably had a deeper offense and a good goalie tandem that year. Haven't followed the Oilers much but what McDavid and Drai are doing is really impressive.
