    Collagen, bone broth & recovery

Who here is taking Collagen supplements, or bone broth in order to aid their recovery?
I have been seeing repeatedly it said collagen proteins make up 30% of our total body protein composition.... *shrug*

Seems like a compelling reason to take collagen, right?

I have also seen Multi collagen extracts, or at the very least the Peptides, are the way to go as opposed to the cheap-o drugstore garbage.

Do you make your own bone broth, and is there a trick to doing it to ensure the collagen is actually fully extracted from the bones?

I take collagen hydrolysate one hour before my workout. Bone broth is NOT a good source of collagen.

    Some references for collagen: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...oYrpqtCns/edit

Personally I'm skeptical about the body comp benefits. Skin and joint benefits seem more credible imo.

bone broth is good for all sorts of things but yeah you wont get as much collagen as if you would with supplements.

I use a beef bone broth that’s all grass fed, organic etc from Trader Joe’s. It’s only $2.99 and the container adds in about 22g if protein and less than 700mg of sodium. I wouldn’t say I have noticed any effects but it tastes good, adds extra protein especially if you use it in replace of water for making stuff like rice, pasta etc. A solid collagen supplement can be beneficial for what Phil mentioned.
