    Do you have balls?

Let's imagine one of your little balls for a moment.

Now let's imagine some little creatures living on the surface of your balls.

How little are the creatures? About the same relationship in size as we are to Earth.

Now, we both know your balls are round, but to the little creatures living on them they look flat.

Dunno about all that but all I know is I did salvia once and suddenly it was like everything became flat. Like 3d was just an illusion and everything was compacted together as a form energy and I was one with everything and "I" no longer existed, I was just a part of everything else. Was terrifying to say the least, would not recommend.

Must have not been very potent, my eyes were open (recorded myself) but I was not home. I exhaled then suddenly I fall out of my computer chair and get up and go "why u were wuh?" (or something) then I was seen picking up my t.v. and the recording stopped.

Srs question here OP: If the flat earth society is convinced they're right, why haven't they pooled their money together to go to outer space and collect photographic evidence? I mean, there has to be enough of you to be able to finance something like that. Then we could settle this once and for all.

I doubt any self respecting space seeking agency would ever willingly take a retarded flat earther into space. What is equally ridiculous is that flat earthers use NASA ISS footage as "proof" that the earth is flat, but they COMPLETELY ignore the rest of NASA ISS footage that is ACTUAL proof

Personally, I haven't researched this issue enough. I've watched some YouTube videos of peoples arguments for a flat earth; I have read excerpts from books from authors who argue for a flat earth.

I'm not going to say they are right or wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were right. My personal belief is that most of the things we believe are lies. Even the shyt I believe in is most likely a lie. We're not anymore educated about the universe than we were three thousand years ago.

I mean, the bulk of the universe is supposedly made up of hypothetical dark energy and matter, shyt we can't even detect, but you want to tell me that we have models that show how everything came into existence and operates?

    Ok.

I kind of hope he succeeds as well and sees the error of his way. I mean, he is LITERALLY telling men and women who have been beyond Earth's gravity that they are liars. 24 men have orbited the moon while 12 have walked on it. All are liars. *eye roll*The 200+ ISS astronauts, 35 astronauts and cosmonauts aboard MIR,the 19 astronauts aboard the tiengong (chinese space station)....all liars. Every astronaut that orbited the earth as well as every pilot and passenger that flew above 37,000 feet (to see the curvature of the earth). Every one lied.

    Ok.
OK so lets talk about the requirements to be a planet.
    1. Must orbit the Sun
    2. It must be large enough to "dominate" its orbit (i.e. its mass must be much larger than anything else which crosses its orbit) (this is why pluto was demoted because, while it is the LARGEST body in the Kuiper belt, it doesnt clear its orbit of "debris." Pluto actually orbits it's closest moon Charon which somewhat challenges the idea of what a planet is without the classification
    3. Must have enough mass that the celestial object pulls it into a roughly spherical object.
*It should be noted that no celestial body, planet, asteroid, comet or star is round. Earth, because it is 72% water is an oblate sphere*

So right off the bat, if Earth isnt round(ish), then we cannot be called a planet.

There is something called Gravitational collapse in which rocky (and icy) bodies that been acquiring mass spontaneously collapse onto itself and take on the round shape. For Icy bodies, its much easier because ice is less dense and, generally speaking, the average diameter of the body is around 400 km. For rocky bodies, the diameter is around 600 km.

Early in Earth's history, on several occasions, Earth experienced heavy bombardments that left the entire surface molten. The late-Heavy bombardment was the first major one (there were up to 120+ proto-planets at the time. Jupiter and Saturn are though to have swallowed them up. Earth collided with some of them as well and gained its mass this way). Each impact generated massive amounts of heat. In space, there is no medium (atmosphere) for heat to dissipate, so planets and asteroids can retain heat for billions of years. So every impact just adds heat/energy to a body that was already retaining massive amounts of heat and energy.

Planet Theia (mars sized planet that collided with earth and formed our moon; theory only). This impact completely sterilized the earth because the entire surface was molten from the core all the way out. I was playing Fallout 4 last night and I picked up an item called "antique globe" now why would they call it that? Did make me wonder, because elites gives clues to rub it in our faces through movies, games etc.

    3. Must have enough mass that the celestial object pulls it into a roughly spherical object.
*It should be noted that no celestial body, planet, asteroid, comet or star is round. Earth, because it is 72% water is an oblate sphere*
It is not plutos moon that caused the demotion, it is the surrounding large objects that Pluto is not able to clear (for example, if Pluto had Charon and nothing else of note existed around Pluto's orbit....then Pluto would be a planet). This is why we don't consider Ceres, within the asteroid belt, a planet. It can be said any body in a two body system orbits each other....just the barycenter of the Pluto/Charon orbit is outside (but very close to) Pluto.

The water on our planet is not the cause of the oblateness. Rather rotation is a primary cause (other planets such as Jupiter and mars are oblate for the same reason).

It's very small, you won't be able to tell. Look at portion of blue circle under "ellipsis of revolution" in this wiki: the dark blue line is the ellipse closely matching earth's cross section, whereas the shaded blue is a circle. They virtually coincide.

no when i look at the standard pictures, it is a perfect sphere. oblate is flat at the poles so they would like flattened, the earth looks like a basketball. i had the wallpaper on my phone before, so i know what it looked like

Every astronaut that orbited the earth as well as every pilot and passenger that flew above 37,000 feet (to see the curvature of the earth). Every one lied.

This insured that the most dense metals sank to the core (center of gravity) and achieved the over all roundish shape. Tectonic plate movement over billions of years as well as volcanic eruptions shaped the surface features and continents as we see them today

Maybe this clears some issues up
Good post, but I need to point out a nit, that the Earth's oblateness is not due to it's oceans. The difference between the equatorial and polar radii of the Earth is about 21 kilometers. Nearly all of that is mantle rock or liquid iron/nickel from the outer core. The cause is primarily the rotational flattening. If the Earth rotated faster, as does Jupiter and Saturn, it's equatorial bulge would be much more pronounced.
I'm out, standing in my field.

    64 and still a newbie.
