Brandon looks huge, Dexter is sharp. Hadi and Steve Kuclo are in there.

Another look at top six. Top 3 look like Brandon, Bonac, and Hadi. Dexter a little soft in the midsection. Roelly not quite at his best.

At first, I thought Dex was winning it but then the comparison started I changed my mind.

I had Brandon winning and Bonac 2nd.

Dexter is always my favorite but he looked soft and noticeably smaller than past few years. I think he tried to hammer the conditioning and lost mass in the process. Maybe he can find a way to swell by Saturday night.

I thought hadi looked the best of anyone, seems like he brought his best product.

It seems like everyone else wasn't on their a+ game Friday. The 212s looked more dialed in.

Disappointed that dex was brought out with lower class guys... I don't think he's gonna place well.

    Hadi
    Curry
    Bonac
    Roelly

But I think they're gonna have a bias towards hadi bc of visa issues and whatnot. I never totally trust the voting

Someone explain the men’s physique division... they seem to be going fir size? I thought it was supposed to be most aesthetic etc? I think Ryan Terry is without a doubt the most aesthetic but they are going for the big boys. I thought it would be like throwing a women’s physique competitor in bikini, she would get docked for being too big and too muscular

Congrats to Dexter, what an incredible accomplishment at almost 50 years old!

As for the rest, all I can say is RIP men's bodybuilding. You can smell the desperation of the IFBB bringing back women's bodybuilding after cutting it just 5 years ago, they just want butts in seats at this point. I'll tune in next year for the 'Classic' division, even the 'Men's bikini' has become more entertaining for the fans.

the auditorium was packed. I dont think they are desperate. Women's bbing is great and should have never been cut in the first place. Only did so because they thought it was sending the wrong message to women and hurting them physically.

You are right. Fitness and bodybuilding are more popular now than ever. With all of these new divisions, more people are getting into it that weren't before. The focus used to be solely on men's open bodybuilding, but now they have diversified and brought in a new audience.

You have alot of faith in humanity, don't lose that! Although, I think by allowing it they are doing the opposite. Encouraging young females to pump themselves full of anabolics to reach an unnatural/unhealthy physical state. At least the classic / men's bikini is somewhat attainable for a gym rat who has been at it for 15-20 years.

Back to men's bodybuilding, the consensus seems to be that Brandon is a deserving winner, but many people feel Hadi should have been runner up instead of William.

The heavy weights in the Mr. O is getting so sloppy. No one comes in conditioned like they used to 10 years ago. I also agree that social media is killing this sport.

I look at Dorian Yates and Lee Haney together and think how good this sport used to be. Everyone is posting their workouts on IG. There is no mystery or surprises, no "Shadows" anymore.

People who didnt lift in the 90s still knew who Dorian Yates was and Lee Haney had a show on ESPN. You dont know how far the sport has fallen.

I think women can decide for themselves what they want to do without the IFBB "protecting them from themselves".

Besides how many male BBers have died vs how many females? But women need protected and men don't?

I think the thread title is fitting, as there definitely seems to be a lack of hype about the Olympia, despite a new champ being crowned. I guess the lack of Rhoden, Heath, and Rami kind of deflated the whole thing.
Definitely not as much discussion as previous years.

You are just playing gatekeeper. Its a completely different sport now. Yes, men's bodybuilding has fallen because the sport has trended in new directions and divisions. For the older generations of fans, they will see it has a negative. New fans, the ones that are spending money on the sport are the only thing that matters to the IFBB. The fitness industry is generating more money now than it ever did when the focus was 100% on men's open bodybuilding.
