Hey all,
I've currently starting my second bulk eating ~3200 calories.
I also have a fitbit that tells me my approximate calorie burn each day.
Im wondering if I should eat 200cal above my average daily burn (3000+200 = 3200 )
OR
If I should take each day's daily calorie burn estimate and eat 200 calories above that, which would range from 2500-3500 calories depending how active I am that given day. ( dynamic calorie intake )
PROS of fixed calories:
- easier to meal plan
- consistent calorie intake
- lesser weight fluctuations
- more accurate
CONS of fixed calories:
- overeating on rest days (can create up to a 1000cal surplus)
- undereating on active days (can create up to a 1000cal deficit)
- not taking advantage of the fitbit
PROS of dynamic calories
- stay in a consistent day-to-day surplus
- dont have to force feed on sedentary days
- allowed to eat more (satisfy cravings) on high activity days
- if accidentally over ate, can burn it off with light cardio
- fitbit gets to be useful
CONS of dynamic calories:
- greater weight fluctuations
- harder to judge weight progress
- day-to-day intake varies greatly
- harder to meal plan
Any thoughts/ideas/info is greatly appreciated

Should you eat a flat amount of calories per day or taper it to daily exercise?

Not taking advantage if the fitbit is a pro. Those things can't be accounted for... you want real life data.
Track scaleweight and gym progress.
With that out of the way... you can be as flexible with your diet as you want to be, so don't make it complicated unless it gives you great pleasure.
Just make sure you progressively lift more and more weight over time, while eating enough to be able to do so, as that is what matters for building muscle.~ Feel free to PM me if you have any questions ~
