Few reps vs high reps (5 vs 8)

What is really the difference between 3x5 and 3x8 on squats, bench, deadlifts? Will I progress a lot slower if I do 8? Which is the best?

Lower reps with higher weight is generally more beneficial towards strength gains while higher reps with lower weight is better suited for hypertrophy.

Best really just depends on what your goals are.

You'll be able to progress faster on 8 reps since it'll be less about strength and more about how hard you can go.

You will progress in both terms (strength and size), but 5 reps are more strength oriented, but it doesn't mean that you won't build any muscle on 5 reps btw. If you are beginner, do 5 reps on compounds
