It seems like you're just looking for any reason to hate Luck. It's easy for you to say that he wimped out and that he's a bad leader/teammate as you sit behind a computer screen, man. You act like his injuries have been minor. It's also asinine to say he doesn't love football.
I don't hate Andrew Luck I just hate how he quit on his team and fans two-weeks before the season is about to start.

His injuries were not career ending. Plenty of NFL players play more physical positions and come back from his type of injury every year.

Stop w the injury excuse. QBs barely get hit nowadays He just is rich and doesn't care about playing out his contract mainly for that reason. Injuries are just a lame exucse to try and not look bad. He's a selfish person. Pretty obvious.

This is so eerily similar to the Barry Sanders situation. I think he just didn't feel like they were committed to protecting him first. Dude got pummeled for 90% of his career. He has his money, his faculties, and doesn't need football. Good for him.

Didnt know QBs have a time machine to go to previous years and avoid previous hits

Didnt know any previous injuries will never affect a person's body in the future

ITT life is a video game and QBs are 100% healthy every September

To all those saying no big deal name the last time a superstar QB retired two-weeks before the start of the season. Correct me if I am wrong but it probably never happened before bexause it is a selfish move.

Also add in he comes from a wealthy family. Dude has it made. I too would retire from the NFL early and save what's left of my brain.

No I dont know for sure but until I hear otherwise I'm going w the facts. He just didnt want to rehab cause he is rich. He basically admitted it in his press conference.

It is his life and his decision but I dont see how anyone can honestly say he handled this well. He let the Colt fans down IMO.

To all those saying no big deal name the last time a superstar QB retired two-weeks before the start of the season. Correct me if I am wrong but it probably never happened before bexause it is a selfish move.
LOL but you're acting as if players should feel obligated to run their bodies into the ground.

Your stance is valid, but it's also easy for any of us to say.

Would you like to play til something bad happens and your life is never the same?

The Colts fans will forget about Luck soon enough, he has to live with himself for the rest of his life.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.

completely agree. its not that he quit football, its that he did it with such late notice before the season.

If he's unwilling to put his body through pain again, should have retired months ago.

Yes, if you committ to playing football you are signing up with an understanding of the cost to your body. If Luck wasn't willing to do that, he could retired way earlier

    Lots of rumors floating around:

Suffering from depression (would explain this rash decision and his massive weight loss 2 years ago)
    Addicted to pain killers
Asked the team if he could go to Hawaii for 3 months to get away (team said no)
    Suffered a mental breakdown
Has known he wanted to quit since last winter and the team tried to talk him out of it

A lot of that makes total sense. IMO he is completely fine physically. He played in the Pro Bowl last Feb for example. Nothing said about a calf. How did he then hurt it? On his honeymoon?

Much of this is not adding up and I am sure it will slowly come out what the real story is.

I don’t know why but I still get the feeling he’ll take the whole year off and come back next season. If he stayed healthy he definitely would have been a future HOF

No one thinks that they'll have the injury history that Luck ended up with, and dealing with all kinds of **** IS mentally exhausting. That **** can put you in the deepest hole of depression from one injury. He came back from multiple season ending injuries, which would probably be exponentially more depressing as they happened season after season.

He actually mentioned his retirement to Irsay before he retired and Irsay told him to take some time to think it over. There are quotes from other Colts executives that make it seem like they knew about it, too.

Him walking away took massive balls.

It doesn't really matter. He decided that it was time to walk away from the game and he did. Even though what we and others think doesn't matter, past and current NFL players are praising him for doing it. He could've gone on the IR and kept collecting money. He was unselfish and decided to leave football and the millions that he could've taken while knowing he was going to quit. I'm surprised most people don't see that.

Well, yes. But he also stayed on through the summer long enough to get a bonus and is being paid in full for this year. So basically, he has collected about $80 M from the contract he signed in 2016 and has played a total of.......16 regular season games. Trust me, he has been very well compensated.

To walk out on your teammates the way he did? 2 weeks before the season? When he appears to be totally fine health wise? He is either a total dick, which I don't think he is, or he has something mentally going on. He has said for a month now he would be ready for game 1. Said it last week. Was just filmed doing the box drill last week and looked 100%.

There is way more going on than an imaginary injury. I don't even think he has one. I think he and the Colts knew Luck wanted to retire and not go through camp this year way back in March, so they came up with this 'calf' injury to buy time. When the GM and coach told him last week they needed to know by this past Sunday if he was going to play game 1 or not, he was finally forced into a real decision and decided to quit.

Let us not forget this was a super bowl favorite team he walked out on.

Could he have early CTE? Too many small concussions? Maybe that is causing the depression.

You can't tell me this player is hurt in this video....at least not his calf. This was last week. He said in this press conference he already knew he was retiring when this video was shot.

The issue with his money is that there is $12.8M that the Colts could've gotten back from him, $6M of which he hasn't been paid yet. The $6m that he would've gotten would've been paid to him sometime in September, but the Colts and Luck have come to a financial agreement that isn't fully understood yet. The Colts could pay him that $6M as a thank you or whatever, or the agreement can be something like they let him keep what he's gotten so far and they won't pay him the remaining $6M. What I've read today wasn't completely clear on that issue, so you'll just have to wait if you're curious about it. Of course he's been well compensated. He's one of the better QBs when he's healthy.

I'm sure Luck had talked to many of his teammates, and he didn't walk out on his teammates, he walked out on being beat up mentally and physically. Plenty people look highly upon his decision. Will some people and teammates be upset, angry, disappointed, etc? Absolutely, but he did what was best FOR HIM. Of course there is more going on. We may or may not ever find out what this whole situation is about, but you can't fault him for deciding to do what's best for him for his future.

The thing is that we don't know what the hell is and was going on behind the scenes, and that video tells me nothing. I've had injuries that seemed healed that were agitated by doing something. The Colts told him to take some time and he did. Maybe he was doing and saying all of this because he was hoping he'd it'd make him want to go through all of the potential injuries/rehab/whatever and it ended up not happening. I'm not going to hate on a guy for making a decision that is about bettering his quality of life. That took more strength to do than playing the season when his mind and/or body aren't in it. Just like Barry Sanders, this decision was probably for the best for everyone involved.
