Nothing wrong with having a wife and kids (I may end up having them as well) but still:

Don't get married and have kids if you no deep down you shouldn't

I am 48 years old and miserable with life. I live the stereotypical suburban life. I work a crappy corporate job. My formerly attractive, loving wife became fat and indifferent when she became a mother.

My kids are extremely difficult. My 14 year old daughter is a typical bratty teenage girl. Can't fault her for that - I'm sure she will grow up to be a good woman. My 9 year old son has severe ADHD. Not the kind that most people think of where a kid can't sit still in the class. The kind where my poor kid ****s himself.

Seventeen years ago I freaked out that all my friends were gone and married. I freaked out that I was going to grow old alone. That I would be lonely. I thought what kind of 40 year old prefers to be a bachelor and spend his time fishing and building trucks? My girl wants to get married and have kids. Let's do it, that's what you're supposed to do, right? I knew deep down it was wrong.

Anyways here I am. Tomorrow I will wake up after sleeping just a few hours. I will make myself breakfast. I'll probably get a stomach ache since my son leaves the fridge open so often, our food is usually rancid. I'll take **** at work. I'll come home. My daughter and wife will yell at me. I'll go to bed. I'll do it all again.

The weekend will roll around. My wife's car needs a new starter. This stupid ****ing city throws salt on the road like you wouldn't believe. I will be drilling out rusty bolts all weekend to get her car running. No one will appreciate anything.

Then it's time for work again Monday.

I wish I could go beat the living daylight out of me 17 years ago. Maybe I'll have kids to take care of me when I'm 70. That's one hell of a bad reason to give up 30. To give up 40. To give up 50.

20 years ago I was fishing 5 days a week with my german sheperd. How I would I could go back. So badly. I am so stuck.

As far as marriage. When you have **** going for you in life there is no shortage of women willing to be a fwb, gf, or in a ltr. Even if you tell them you don't want kids or to be married they all think given enough time you'll change your mind.

The vast majority of single guys are **** ups so it really doesn't take much to be a 'catch'. And a girl that's hoping you eventually wife her up tries a lot harder then one you throw a ring at.
