    Unhappy Weight Gaining

    Hi,
I am 24 and weighs around 42Kg and height around 168cm, and calculated BMI is around 6.6. I need help in choosing supplements that would be helpful for my health with no harm to my organs. I had ordered a supplement from YourNutritionForever which is ON Gold Standard 100% Whey but it doesn't affect my weight. Apart from consuming the Supplement, I continue the exercise on a regular basis but I got no result. Kindly Suggest the best supplement for my Health.

No results - as you didn't gain any weight? In that case, eat more food

Supplements don't guarantee anything. They are just processed food products after all. You need to be in control of your total nutrient intake and you need to be doing a routine that has planned progressive overload. I suggest reading the sticky threads at the top of each of these forums: Workout Programs, Nutrition, Exercises.

Just adding whey protein will not help you lose weight. If you are already eating too many calories all this is doing is adding more calories.

You'd probably be best off by starting in the nutrition forum. Ultimately weight loss comes down to calories in versus calories out. If you aren't losing weight you are eating too much/ not active enough. Shoot me a PM if you have any questions!

JP - the OP is trying to gain weight. He/she weighs about 85 pounds and has a BMI of 6.

OP - same idea as JP discussed here to gain weight, just flip the scenarios. To gain weight, you have to consume more calories than you burn. Up your food intake by whatever means necessary - protein shakes are only good for supplementing your diet and truthfully, there aren't many calories to be had in your typical protein shake. There are 120 calories in 1 scoop of the protein I drink. 120 calories is about the same as half a chocolate chip cookie or a scoop of peanut butter.

You need to work this kind of thing out for yourself - read the sticky threads I directed you to above. If there are any problems once you've done that then we can help.

I would first figure out how many calories you are taking in now, then increase 200. see how that goes for a couple weeks then adjust as needed. Might take a month or two to get dialed in.

Try 2700. If you make progress in your lifting routine (you add more weight or more reps in each set on a regular basis) then all is well. If you start to stagnate, add another 200 calories and run that for a further 2 weeks before making any more changes.

supplements arent typically geared to help you gain weight. eat more food or take a mass gainer. or both
