    Unhappy Putting on weight.

I’m 17 and have been lifting for around 6 months. I’ve made great progress in the gym but my nutrition has made my gains minimal. I try to eat in a caloric surplus and get in around 2800 calories a day but it’s a huge struggle as I have difficulties getting food down. I’m 5”10 and weigh 9 stone and 4 pounds. Does anyone have any advice for ways to put on weight that are easier than the traditional methods of binge eating chicken and rice ? Any help would be much appreciated.

Pizza and burgers... stop trying to eat nothing but bro food.

    1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

If you’re having trouble getting enough in then it’s time to turn to liquid calories. Think milk, Gatorade, shakes etc. if you’re eating a large amount of fiber, cut down a bit and you may be hungrier more often. You could also turn to calorie dense foods as mentioned above. Burgs, pizza, ice cream, oils, etc.

Also, you’re young, don’t drive yourself crazy. Work hard and eat eat eat.

I used to make my own weight gain shakes when i had trouble gaining weight.
Milk, peanut butter, handful of oats, (teaspoon of olive oil optional) vanilla whey protein. (vanilla icecream optional), it was around 1000 calories and tasted like a pb milkshake.

If you read through the replies above, it's clear you need to change your ways regarding food choices.

Same thing applies to me... I'm back into the groove post-vacation and fitting in 5-6x/week into my life schedule. Now I have no other choice but to resort to burgers & liquid calories to actually get in around 4.5k kcal/day. Eating all "clean" would be detrimental to the cause.

I wonder where the chicken, broccoli, rice fallacy came from in the first place? It seems like everyone new to lifting thinks that’s all bodybuilders eat...but where did that universal bit of misinformation come from?
