Has anyone else seen this? It's excellent. Good for these guys stepping out to bring their/our sport to a larger audience. These guys are also very entertaining.

Agreed. They actually have some personality.

Brian Shaw's youtube channel (ShawStrength) is also very good. The amount these guys eat is unimaginable until you see it........

I remember watching Shaw come up as a young competitor. It was during the reign of Marius Pudjonowski. Shaw had little backing and less money. He trained in his garage. Now, he's a legend. I like that the show has a strongman who is 50 yrs old. And the Brit looks like he's short, but he's like 6'3". Those men are huge. Shaw is well over 400lbs.

For those of you who haven't seen it, they pick a place where a legendary strongman made his mark, and they replicate his feats. Season 1 is almost over. I hope there is a Season 2.

He's trying to slim down from 445 to 400. Seems the past couple years the competitions have featured more events that required mobility, so he's trying to get down to a featherweight 400 lbs and he's been doing box jumps and stuff.

Interesting. I can see it. He moves like an athlete even at his gigantic-ness. They're all impressive as hell, really. I really enjoyed the show where they went to Scotland and competed in Highland Games events. Obertz (sp?) impressed me throwing that big rock. His shot putting experience showed big time.

Yes, I'm watching, what I found very interesting was the event where they carried the pianos, and the reason is because the form in which they carried is how the very beginning of Worlds Strongest Man was.....with the frig carry.

Bruce Wilhelm won the 1977 and 1978 Worlds Strongest Man, he beat Big Don Reinhardt who was the world powerlifter champ, Don weighed well over 350lb, Bruce weighed like 330lb.

Bruce was the first american to offically snatch over 400lb, he was a "bull" and he never trained the events. Even back in those days the guys ALL trained the events, Ken Patera phucked-up his back, George Frenn was throwing tires in a parking lot, Bruce stuck to his o' lifting. The other guys even trained the frig carry.

.....back to the frig carry, that is totally different than a "yoke" Franco Columbo had a horrific leg injury....I mean NASTY injury from that event, look it up, his phucking ankle was hanging by a thread.

Back to the big Fatso men, I remember when most of these strongman winners where in good shape, Phil Phister was a lean mean machine, hell I remember Brian Schoonveld in MILO magazine back in the 90's when he was just starting, he was a former arm wrestler and and pretty lean shouldering a 300lb sandbag.

......then they get that fat bloated look, suddenly, I loose interest. Ah well, what can ya do. Yeah Shaw is 6'8" Phil is 6'6" and he kept alot of that blubber on, which he gained to beat that guy from Poland.

Ya, he played college basketball in a lower division. Says he was always more interested in weight lifting.

Hafthor Bjornson was also a basketball player.

I think Paul Anderson had bigger thighs than all those guys. They certainly can’t perform the squat as good as Paul and they never cleaned Paul’s lift, they pressed it from a rack.
