    Cold Showers

Wasn't sure where to post this but thought here might be a good spot. I have been having more and more little aches and soreness/stiffness as I get older. I have read multiple articles and studies that say that cold showers have multiple benefits, one of which is helping fight inflammation. Just curious if anyone partakes in cold showers? I work out at 4:30 am and shower afterwards so my showers are far from hot but not sure how I would do with a cold one...

I also work out first thing and used to take only cold showers. Now I start with a warm/cool setting to wash and then hit a 30-60 second full cold blast at the end. It wakes me up and feels good on the muscles. As for fighting inflammation, I'm not really sure.

Was it easier to do the transition from warm/cool to cold versus just straight cold from the start?

    Warm Epsom salt baths
    Rolling out muscles
Avoid nightshade related fruit and vegetables
Glucosamine (Even my old dog takes this)
    Enough healthy fat and water

I have had major joint issues since 22 with arthritis is a few places and now am on a script for it, (non addictive) from my doctor

Those will help, everything in my legs and feet cracks still but it doesn’t bother me pain wise

Aches and pains in joints have just become part of it for me...I do take cold showers because it instantly cools me off and does feel good in general - although I never used to feel that way. I don't think the cold showers help me, but I had never thought of it before. Once it is winter, I go back to hot so as not to freeze. There is no noticeable difference to me.

How cold are you talking? Ice is a good way to combat inflammation but an icy shower is not what I'm talking about. The water that I'm calling "cold" is probably really just slightly below room temp - whatever the water from the pipes underground winds up being.

I started with cold from the start so it was easier to transition to the warm then cold option. When you just do a cold shower it sucks for like 5-10 seconds and you breathe super deep but then you get used to it. By the fifth or sixth day it didn’t bother me at all. Moving to the warm then cold is much easier.

Yes, ice cold showers are good, invigorating, good for aches etc. although these days it seems I've able to out lift all my aches and pains. I now live the Dawlton saying in "Road House" "Pain don't hurt".

I used to, in the middle of winter, cold pipes, before turning on, stand under the shower head, turn cold right on, none of that easing into it, just get it done with, the back muscles were always the hardest, everything else wasn't so bad.

MTPockets, no problems with boners for me, even with ice water!!! That's called "Bald Dawrf Power"!

Have started turning down temperature at end of post workout shower so the last minute or two is colder, not down to completely cold yet, but half way there? maybe in a couple of weeks...
I was swimming in unheated swimming pools in the last week, but weather there so hot that's nowhere near the cold shower temp we're talking about
Faith in Jesus first and faith in squats second.

Wouldn't recommend jumping straight into an ice cold shower first thing in the morning.

Luke warm then transition into ice (like a James Bond shower but not hot to begin with)

Same end result without the mental torture.

I used to set an alarm in morning that made me jump out of bed like I had PTSD.

Set my alarm to one that gradually gets louder and louder till it makes me get up.

    BIG difference in feels.

Just my experience, everyone is different.

I have now went 5 days of the cold shower and I actually enjoy them. I start off with the water about 3/4 towards the cold so its not bad and end it with as cold as it goes. As for the timing question, I workout at 4:30 am, home around 6 to relax a bit then in the shower about 6:30.
