Keep in mind, if the CCP engages in another massacre like Tiananman Square (or worse), it'll be fuel to the West's fire in building anti-CCP sentiment and allowing for tougher legislation.
Big thing to keep an eye on.
‘Sliding into an abyss’: Beijing’s top office in Hong Kong urges stronger crackdown against unrest
https://www.scmp.com/news/china/poli...urges-strongerBeijing’s liaison office in Hong Kong says the city is “sliding into the abyss of terrorism” and a harsher crackdown is needed to end the unrest and restore order.
The warning comes as the financial hub reels from some of the worst violence since massive anti-government protests started five months ago, with the number of protesters arrested since Monday surpassing the total for the whole previous week.
This week, a protester was shot by police, a man was set on fire, roads were blocked and university campuses turned into battlegrounds.
As the Hong Kong government struggles to calm the public and stop the violence, Beijing has again thrown its weight behind the city’s administration and police force, urging them to take tougher action.
In a statement late on Tuesday, the central government’s liaison office said it “resolutely supports the Hong Kong government in adopting every necessary measure to end the unrest and restore order as soon as possible, arrest the criminals and severely punish their violent acts”.
It called on the Hong Kong government, police and judiciary to “decisively adopt all necessary means to forcefully crack down on various acts of violence and terrorism”.
It is not the first time Beijing has evoked “terrorism” to describe the anti-government protests in Hong Kong.
In August, after a weekend of clashes between police and protesters, Beijing’s top office on Hong Kong policy, the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO), warned that protesters were showing “signs of terrorism” by “repeatedly attacking police with highly dangerous tools” such as petrol bombs.

like how a bunch of random ppl smash in some random malls glass doors and smash the glass inside the mall and light up christmas trees.
the CCP is doing this, they hire a bunch of teens to destroy hong kong within.
the real hong kong protestors wouldnt do anything like that cuz it doesnt make sense for them.
so yea right now CCP is tryign to destroy HK within, its their scummy tactics.
they cant force like 1989 because US knows about it and has HK back as trump says something along the lines. "I hope china does not make hong kong a tinanamen square situation again." which china replies back telling them not to interfere or there will be consequences for it.

U.S. Senate Sets Up Expedited Vote on Hong Kong Democracy Bill - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...democracy-bill
The U.S. Senate is preparing for quick passage of legislation to show support for pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong by placing the city’s special trading status with the U.S. under annual review.
The Senate is set to bring the bill to the floor under an expedited process that would allow for quick passage unless there is an objection, according to Republican Senator Marco Rubio, the lead sponsor.
“The world witnesses the people of Hong Kong standing up every day to defend their long-cherished freedoms against an increasingly aggressive Beijing and Hong Kong government,” Rubio said in a statement. “Now more than ever, the United States must send a clear message to Beijing that the free world stands with Hong Kongers in their struggle.”
Clashes between police and protesters in Hong Kong have grown increasingly violent and widespread since they began five months ago. The financial hub has been paralyzed since Monday morning, when a demonstrator was shot during protests. Chinese government officials have vowed unspecified “countermeasures” if the U.S. enacts the legislation.
The Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act would require the State Department to certify at least once a year whether Hong Kong should keep its special status under U.S. law. This legislation is slightly different from the version passed by the House of Representatives, which means the two bills would have to be reconciled and passed by both chambers before going to President Donald Trump to be signed into law.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday warned of retaliation if the measure passes Congress.
Rubio and Democratic co-sponsor Senator Ben Cardin have garnered broad bi-partisan support for their bill, including from Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Jim Risch, who has pressed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for a swift vote.
“The world needs to see that the United States will stand up and tell the Chinese Communist Party that what they are doing to the people of Hong Kong is wrong,” Risch said in a statement. “The U.S. stands with the people of Hong Kong, and I look forward to continuing to work with Senate leadership and my colleagues across the aisle to move this bill swiftly.”
Rubio and McConnell met late Wednesday to hash out a way forward for the legislation, which would also levy sanctions on people the president finds responsible for human rights violations.
If it wasn't for CUHK students' brave act, the protest might have died down and this bill wouldn't be expedited. CUHK students are the heroes of HK, and some of the bravest people in this world.
Finally, this will get passed. Don't know if it will be effective or how the USA will actually enforce this...

Hong Kong is dead now. China evacuates their students.
They already have the PLA in Hong Kong, dressed as Hong Kong police, attacking anybody who is young and wears dark clothing.
Hong Kong businessmen don't care about the city. They transfer their money to Macau.
Their factories are already on the mainland.
The shopping malls were built for mainland shoppers who now stay away.
The chief executice carrie lam is some british trained civil servant with no leadership abilities. She won't be a threat to China.
Whether she is there ir not doesn't make a difference.Cycling, walking, swimming.
No car.

LMAO, there's absolutely no way Macau can ever become or replace Hong Kong. Macau doesn't even have a stock market when Hong Kong currency is LINKED TO USD and a very sophisticated stock market. The ONLY city in Asia that can replace Hong Kong as of now is Singapore, and they do not belong to China. The sole reason that Singapore could become a free financial hub like Hong Kong is because they are NOT under CCP ruling.
Chief Executive Carrier Lam has been trained with CCP and CCP's puppet as of today, of course she's not a threat to China, she works for CCP since day 1 in her position as Chief Executive. CCP will just found another puppet for HK after Carrier Lam. CCP is the one who has no leadership abilities, they are only dictators with brainwashing and propaganda ability. If CCP had any sort of capable leaders OR if they actually allow HK people to vote for capable leaders, Hong Kong wouldn't become as it is today.
The real Hong Kong business man, Li Ka-shing, number 1 in terms of wealther have already withdraw most of its investment from BOTH HK and mainland a while ago. He's invest in England now.Last edited by tyn89; 11-14-2019 at 03:51 PM.

Ive believed this from the beginning too, after all it is the bread and butter of the cia and others. Makes sense, trade war starts so send intel assets in to fuel tensions in HK and distract china. It would also explain the CCPs hesitancy to crush HK, they surely know the western world would pounce and use it to crank up the pressure immediately.
All that being said, I still dont see a peaceful way out for HK. It seems to either be A- give in to the CCP and let them start disappearing people for anything or B- keep holding out until the CCP gets fed up and rolls in once and for all.
Does anyone else see any other resolution possible? The CCP CANNOT let the HKers win this, it would send a message to mainlanders that maybe they can challenge the authority of the CCP too...China aint having that at all.

How do you stop protests like this???
Easy. Hold steady, don't escalate and wait for it to rain.
Eventually the protesters get tired and go home.
They got the main thing they were asking for already.

If Beijing puts troops in Hong Kong, Washington should suspend the city’s trade status
Washington should suspend the special economic status granted to Hong Kong if Beijing deploys its military forces in the city, a congressional body warned on Thursday, along with a range of other recommendations addressing perceived threats the US faces as a result of its engagement with China.
The US-China Economic and Security Review Commission, which has a mandate to advise US lawmakers on the implications of Washington’s economic relationship with Beijing, also called for US export control measures on mainland Chinese companies to be extended to their Hong Kong subsidiaries.
Hong Kong issues aside, the body warned about continued investment by US companies in China because of increasing vulnerabilities they face in terms of data and intellectual property protection and said that Chinese companies listed on American stock exchanges should abide by the same disclosure rules as other firms.
According to the commission’s charter, its recommendations are meant “for action by Congress or the President, or both”, but those authorities are not obliged to act on them.
Reflecting the broad ideological and military threats that its members say China poses for the US, the commission took Beijing to task for what it characterised as an attack on democracy in Hong Kong and on the mainland as well as a “campaign of cultural extermination” against the country’s Uygur and other Muslim minorities.Wincel: "I'm saying even the govt of China, while brutal at times, is NOT our enemy. Hong Kong protests: university campus stand-off between radicals and riot squad shows no sign of ending as thousands hit streets in bid to relieve police siege
The stand-off between radical protesters barricaded inside Hong Kong Polytechnic University and riot police threatening mass arrests continued without a solution into the early hours of Tuesday.
About 40 injured activists were allowed to leave the campus to get treatment, although they might still face charges later. Others, except for accredited journalists, were told they would be arrested once they stepped out. A police source said those who surrendered without a fight could expect lenient punishments but all entrapped protesters had to answer to the law.
With police showing no intention of storming the campus and besieged activists unwilling to give up, a stalemate ensued.
Former Legislative Council president Jasper Tsang Yok-sing and University of Hong Kong legal scholar Eric Cheung Tat-ming entered the PolyU campus with a police escort at around 11pm. When asked about the visit, Tsang said he was there to “help those who want to leave”.
Earlier attempts by various groups to negotiate a peaceful solution failed. University board directors, teachers, parents and lawmakers trying to enter the campus were turned back by officers.
At nightfall, thousands of their supporters who gathered in Jordan and Tsim Sha Tsui tried to relieve the police siege by force. They battled riot officers in the bustling streets of central Kowloon throughout the night, with tear gas and petrol bombs exchanged at rapid intervals.
Those who stayed on the campus in Hung Hom also tried to break out and leave en masse. But they were quickly met by rounds of tear gas fired by police guarding several entrances.
In the evening, dozens managed to slip through the police line and escape. Under the cover of night, they abseiled down to a highway from a campus footbridge and were picked up by motorcycles and driven away.Wincel: "I'm saying even the govt of China, while brutal at times, is NOT our enemy. SCMP is running a story that crews (who were really from a PLA CT unit) were going around cleaning up the streets to restore order. So troops are definitely in HK, just not distinguishing themselves as such. I'd imagine they are working to subvert the protesters in any way possible.

What a ****-show. I'm sad to say that I believe HKers are completely on their own and will be slowly destroyed by the Chinese forces. No country in the world is gonna try to invervene, because nukes and China's position and veto powers.
It's a ****ty ****ty situation. Looks like the war has already started, just missing that spark which will cause the eruption.
It breaks my heart to see it. My family and country has been through a grueling war 30 years ago and we know how it is when you're left on your own against a superior force. Thankfully the world powers intervened but I can't see it in HK's case.
HKers seem brave and are willing to die for their goals of freedom, and that's commendable. Godspeed and good luck.

Anti-mask law to quell Hong Kong protests ruled unconstitutional by High Court
A Hong Kong court has ruled in favour of pan-democrats in declaring the government’s mask ban unconstitutional in a decision that forced police to halt law enforcement while legal experts in mainland China floated the possibility of another legal interpretation by Beijing.
Two High Court judges on Monday ruled that the emergency legislation that brought the ban on face coverings in public places into effect last month was “incompatible with the Basic Law” when used in times of public danger as seen in the present case. They also found the new law had imposed invalid restrictions on fundamental rights and freedoms.
The ruling by justices Anderson Chow Ka-ming and Godfrey Lam Wan-ho, in favour of the 25 pan-democrats who applied for judicial review, dealt a blow to the beleaguered city government. Police announced they would stop enforcing the ban for now, while prosecutors sought adjournment “to consider the situation”.

Legal experts were divided, some calling the judgment an important recognition of Hong Kong’s constitutional framework, while those on the mainland expressed concerns that the court might have sent the wrong signal to the radical protesters, floating the idea of Beijing interpreting the Basic Law again.
The judges will hear further submissions on Wednesday morning to decide the appropriate relief and costs.
The high-profile constitutional challenge centred on the colonial-era Emergency Regulations Ordinance and its derivative, the Prohibition on Face Covering Regulation, introduced by the government on the grounds of “public danger” in a bid to quell a wave of protests sparked nearly six months ago by the now-withdrawn extradition bill.
