Interesting blood test result, need your feedback

    Hi all,

Recently I have had two blood/urine tests performed, the second to confirm the first, where they found amino acids and liver particles in my blood/urine. On several occasion my doctor asked if I was an alcoholic; I am not. Although I do drink on occasions, maybe a couple of pints every few weeks. I am in good shape, 49 yo, 205lbs, under 20%bf. And I train about 4 times a week but also running, etc. I was a little worried that there'd be something wrong with my liver although there is no pain anywhere other than the usual lifter's soreness.

But this week I was speaking with a colleague who is in his 20s and he had the same blood/urine test result. He went for an ultrasound to his liver with no negative results. I have also had the same test with no response from the doctor; no news us good news I assume.

I believed that my doctor thinks that the liver particles and amino acids are unrelated. But it seems that it may just be a by-product of working out intensely.

I did some quick googling and thought I'd add that I do use the usual supplements. BCAAs during training; protein, creatine and glucosamine post-workout. I've started taking citruline malate (off-days) which has really helped with the recovery. And also take a pre-workout which also helps with recovery.

    What do you all think?

I hope someone who KNOWS will weigh in with some knowledge and advice, but I seem to remember that results like these are very common among guys who regularly lift and that if you don't lift for 3 or 4 days before the tests, the test results are perfectly normal.

You need to go see a urologist. I had similar issue a few years back also in my 40s. It turned out to not be a big deal for me but it could also be an indicator of a prostrate issue, and you really need to have a doc check it out.

He's right. A bunch of randoms on the internet cannot help you. If you don't like what you're doctor is saying or directing, get a second opinion. We can't diagnose you at all.
