For the onseason in bodybuilding competition, what do you think is okay to eat for a cheat meal? Is it any different than a cheat meal in the offseason? If so, what is the difference?

To me, it's all about portion size and calorie count.
On bulk, I'm a little more forgiving of going over my cals for the day. On cut for show day, nothing goes in my face that's not counted for and I really don't "cheat" at all.

The key difference is the purpose of the meal.
Offseason cheats are a good way just to break the monotony and add calories to fuel growth; during the contest season cheat meals/refeeds should be used as-needed only. You and/or your coach can determine if you truly need a refeed/cheat based on how you're looking and what would be most-beneficial for your physique.
After weeks of low-carb dieting, I'll incorporate a low-fat, high-carb refeed just to temporarily refill glycogen stores.#Mensan

its about hormone triggers ..
it really depends on your body..
normally i dont get cheat, i get refeed, that means higher amounts of food, the same meals, just more than usual.
if you have a High fat meal (burgers and fries) it can be used to trigger hormones.
everything have a different purpose, to different situations..

Whats the purpose for it and is it necessary ?
Having a higher calorie day is different that taking in a lot of junk.
As stated above a refeed/higher calories is more sensible than random foods.
It would depend what kind of shape your already in also and how close you are to contest time.
If your ahead of schedule it might not hurt you at all.
