Exactly. Democrats want to be able to control the propaganda and information is what they mean. Google/FB who have Chinese involvement/investors want to shadowban conservatives and block pro-GOP information, that's just fine, but Wikileaks actually exposes dirt on the democrats that they were hiding under the rug.... oh can't do that because a Russian found it! How about not creating the dirt in the first place.

Kind of hard to care about this leftist screeching when they don't even want ID's to be required to vote.
MY guess is the bill doesn't even come close to the way OP has framed it. To lazy to research, but other folks are already on top of it.***Alabama Crimson Tide***

Failure to act on foreign interference.
Gerrymandering of congressional districts.
Clinging to an electoral college that disproportionately favors conservative voters over all others.
Republicans are doing everything they can to systematically suppress votes to retain power.

You want to talk about failure to act?
WASHINGTON — The Obama White House’s chief cyber official testified Wednesday that proposals he was developing to counter Russia’s attack on the U.S. presidential election were put on a “back burner” after he was ordered to “stand down” his efforts in the summer of 2016.

A specific identification card for use at the polls that is verified by SSN, Birth Certificate, or whatever other documentation is acceptable for a US Passport. Before you ask "and how do I get it?" The same way you get a passport or driver's license or voter registration card.

What is unconstitutional about it? Elections are for citizens only. It is very constitutional to prove your citizenship to vote in an election.

I got copies of all my kids birth certificates online. You do know how to use a computer? It's less of a hassle than getting your drivers license. You do have a drivers license don't ya? The funny thing is, you can use the same forms and at the same time for a voter ID card.

And, I assume, the bill also includes machines that ARE connected to the internet. I also assume that the bill would apply to machines that are connected to the internet after its passage.
I'm a flaming *LIBERAL* and I'm ALL-IN FOR VOTER ID. It would be administered by Social Security, which keeps track of EVERY U. S. CITIZEN AND LEGAL INHABITANT - it would not be a stretch at all for them to issue federal voter ID photo cards, with counterfeit-proof holograms embedded (as credit cards now do, sans photo) and perhaps embedded QR code. Because there are Post Offices in every town in the USA, the voter ID photo can be taken there. Social Security would reimburse the Post Office for every photo ID taken there.
I don't know to what extent Social Security tracks any "illegal aliens" a/k/a the much-more-accurate-and-unwieldy "people who have crossed into the United States, without legal permission, and are staying." If any illegal aliens are on the Social Security system, SS could interface with whatever sub-agency (I actually don't think it's ICE, which is *enforcement* only) keeps track of people who are citizens or otherwise legally allowed to stay in the USA as some kind of permanent resident eligible to vote, and all people on both those files and SS files would get a Federal Voter ID card with photo. It would kick the "illegals" off of eligibility to get the ID card. If these cards also have embedded QR code or even something else more cutting-edge, voting precincts would all be able to scan-in the ID and it would enter the federal system at that point. It would be IMPOSSIBLE for that card to be used fraudulently to vote again.
Some people think voter ID is a horrible idea because of invasion of privacy. Got news for ya bunky...the invasion of our privacy is ALREADY total. A voter ID card isn't even going to add to that at all.
Yes, internally by being outfitted with proprietary software which is not allowed to be evaluated by anybody. There's no guarantee that the software is identical from precinct to precinct, even...a savvy programmer working for the voting machine company could customize the algorithms by individual precinct. Y'know, flip every 23rd vote for one party, to the other major party candidate (EITHER party could benefit, right now it will tend to be Republicans). The vote tallies might be done by PRIVATE COMPANIES who are accountable to no one, without any kind of paper trail to verify anything. I'll never forget 2004/Ohio. Before that election, Diebold (who made voting machines, and I think was BASED in Ohio) sent out a campaign letter to probable donors to Republicans, asking them to support that party, and saying something like "We will deliver the state of Ohio to George Bush in 2004." Ohio went to Bush 43 in November 2004. Pre-election polling had Kerry winning by 2 or 3 points or something, and Bush won by something like the same margin.*** Something's rotten there. I also understand that the machine votes were sent over the internet and tallied by a Republican-run (NOT RNC, but party preference of CEO, etc.) company in eastern TENNESSEE (why there, not Ohio??).
***Lots and lots of people say that the 2016 election was rigged, because Hillary Clinton was supposed to win. Yes, she was supposed to win the popular vote by like 2.5% (and of course all such polls have "sampling error" as well as eleventh-hour shifts, both inevitable). Sampling error includes respondents lying about their voting preferences, which will often be more common for one party than the other (in a given survey region/area). She got the popular vote with a 2.1% margin. ABSOLUTELY, THE POLLING WAS RIGHT. The result was well within the margin of error (which I think is two standard deviations). The Electoral College distorts results in favor of "smaller" states, though, where a Wyoming result is something like 70-fold fewer people than California, but only 18-fold fewer Electoral votes, so that is distorted...and the "smaller" states generally are usually more rural and generally lean Republican. Only some "small" Northeastern states (which mostly also happen, by coincidence, to be geographically-small) tend Democratic.
Oh kcad..., Republicans do the same thing too. Look what happened in North Carolina's 9th Congressional District, for example.
Republicans also tend to disqualify voters in a way that trends Democrat, such as the really egregious "cross-check" thing where a Juan Gonzalez in Texas (who is an entirely legal U. S. citizen) won't be allowed to vote because there's a felon Juan Gonzalez in friggin' FLORIDA, so the entirely different JG is disenfranchised in Texas.
My brother in northern Florida, just for chits-and-grins, rode around once on election night (2004, I think?) to drive by a bunch of election precinct voting locations. He knows his "neighborhood" (i. e. actually much of the entire county) well, and knows which precincts are nearly all white, and which are nearly all black. (OK, I know that federal House districts, and both STATE House and Senate - or whatever other name they go by, such as in California - can be Gerrymandered, but are *individual precincts* ever Gerrymandered?) He said the white ones he went by, there were NO QUEUES (and the one he voted in had like 22 voting machines and there were never more than 8 or 9 used at a time), and the black precincts had queues stretching 2 or 5 blocks and he found out later that the places for "them" have maybe 3 voting machines inside.
THAT IS CHEATING, TOO...and it's Republicans doing it, mostly.
Seriously, I expect some state, before the 2024 election, to start putting up hurdles forbidding women from voting, because (and again it's mostly Republicans - at least FOR NOW) they are starting to realize more and more that they can ignore or violate the Constitution with wild abandon, if they know that the Supreme Court has their back.Last edited by frankfrank3630; 07-27-2019 at 10:30 PM.

republicans very much want to bolster election security.
Voter ID, preventing Google and other liberal bias platforms from messing around with searches and news feeds, preventing Ukraine and Saudis from helping Democrats etc.
Democrats don’t want any election security.
In fact didn’t it come out that the Russians were also helping Hillary?
