Anyone know that feel? Is this part of the Hedonic Treadmill?
Going from 30k in your 20s then going from 60k, 80k, 100k+ in your 30s and 40s. It's not even intentional but at a certain point you realize what your money can afford you whether it be luxury or comfort. I was looking at sprucing up my place by adding some lounge chairs. Ikea? LOL no. Give me the $1200 leather chairs instead.
Shooting today with my boyos and I shot with his suppressor. I was 'mirin hard. Want a suppressor? There's another grand. I wanted a mirrorless camera for my trips to national parks. We all know how much photography costs. Need a new suit but f*ck a poverty suit especially in your 30s. I don't consider myself a materialistic person but I do enjoy the finer things when I can if I will spend my time and money on them.
Buy once cry once. Buy nice, buy twice.

Right. I'm not really into flashy stuff, but some stuff I'm willing to pay more of a premium for it. Right now my car is an older vehicle b/c I don't care about that sort of stuff. My TV is from 2012 and suits me fine for my needs, but I spend a good bit on quality food I enjoy or experiences like you said travel and other items such as shoes or put money in my hobbies. Luxury is what you make it.
I put money into savings still for the most part. I traveled this month and probably will again so more than likely I won't put much into savings.A hit was sent, from the President, to raid your residence /

Show pay stubs CEO.
I buy things that I can pay off as fast as I can and I have a nest in case of a worst case scenario BUT at the same time I could be saving/investing more.
I think if you buy something it should last a while. I think I'm at least good at if I buy something it's deliberate.

The biggest issue IMO is how quickly the expensive chit becomes normalized. I have somewhere north of $40k in furniture and it doesn’t even feel remarkable now after three years. 65” OLED TV, 32” 4K monitor, gaming rig, Steelcase Gesture chair and filing cabinet, $500k house, 2014 Cadillac. It’s all old news now.
Enjoying the good stuff is part of the motivation behind working hard and making big $$$, but it’s crazy how quickly chit loses its lustre

Mmm no I believe this has more to do with your other habits akin to the fact that people who win the lottery lose their money.
No matter how much money I make I'm still saving keeping my tastes the same.
Spenders will spend. savers will save. Dont matter how much you make.I used to have an AVI of my traps and neck. I changed it a while back and tried editing my user title but this website is glitched and it will not let me change it anymore.

Thing that I think are worth the price is food I agree, but also where you sleep, electronics that you use regularly (less chance of them breaking down + lasting longer), and money on certain hobbies.
Yeah that's what I mean about the hedonic treadmill there.
How do you have $40k in furniture and not satisfied?! lol.

motha fuking right, my pockets lookin kinda tight!
more nice things is not it, once you have REAL disposable income you see it doesn't matter if you have a hi-point or a kimber.

My most recent large purchase was a new car (replacing my old car). It is a Honda (wow but Tk -- that's like less than 20 grand) IKR?
Most of my money goes to rent per year. The purpose of the car was to continue carpooling with the group of people I car pool with. Crazy I know.
I own barely anything physical. Majority of my assets are now bonds, stocks, numbers in a bank account.
I actually drink more water now than I've ever in my entire life. I've given up more things as I aged.

Careful!
My biggest leak in my budget is certainly food. I love food man. Luckily I can cook but having a girlfriend we sometimes eat out. Even if we cook together sometimes it can cost a bit.
If I'm not careful though I can look at BS online and order stuff. I actually bought a new wallet and paid a good bit for it, but I could justify needing a new wallet since my other one has been worn out.
Part of me growing up in a working class family and from the South I still have guilt associated with buying stuff for myself so I battle that notion with the idea that I should save/invest and the idea that life is short and I should spoil myself some.
I love the hustle man.
'Mirin
I could justify buying a Kimber over a Hi Point if we're talking reliability Now a Trijicon vs an Aimpoint red dot...is there really a justification for the extra cost of the Aimpoint?!

Actually pretty satisfied on the furniture front and will use this stuff for the next 10+ years, so not necessarily treadmilling there. I’m frugal af in other areas too, rarely eat out and don’t spend huge amounts on clothes etc. It’s just crazy how all the expensive stuff just feels run of the mill now — it would be so easy to get stuck on that treadmill, constantly buying new expensive crap to chase those feels

I can also tell you here that when I had NOTHING I was much happier.. had family and friends around... without getting too deep that's all fallen apart in my life... but I'm still making $$! sigh
oh, and to go back, despite being worth a million+ I now eat eggs more than ever, at least once a day (sometimes twice but not more than that, usually once lol) because they're .48/dozen! They went up to .89 the other day and I was wtfffffBodybuilding.com awards:

Yeah **** can get expensive. I actually DO need furniture and can justify buying a nice leather chair if it lasts long. It's just funny that I could also get something for a third of the price and it functions as a chair...but my tastes man. Even my girlfriend notices it but honestly since I was a kid I've always been the type to rather have one nice thing than a bunch of mediocre things.
Granted I'm not a sneaker head and while I like fashion and style I don't chase trends. I bought some sunglasses recently that were $220 but my last pair are like 6-7 years old.
When I was in college and I had enough money for a gyro or a white pizza from my favorite Greek place in our small college town and could hang out with my buddies I was super happy. Having a career breeds obligations and responsibilities dude.
Kind of crazy when you think about it.

You troll sword, a hi-point is just as reliable. I've pretty much always owned sub 600 guns and only my Kahr was picky.
But I really mean what I said, once you have a lot of money you can dump on stuff, you realize the brand new benz is the same feeling in a road trip with friends, as in a toyota camry. It's the illusion of "class" or "power" that expensive items give.
I'd just save it and give it to your future generation than spend it now on some expensive bs. Experiences are nice and generally are worth the expensive price, but the materialistic/physical items?
I feel my mind changing more towards save/invest as if I cannot ever make a dollar again being my mindset as I get older. But hey, do you. I think everyones been there at some point in their life anyways with loads of money. If I could smoke fear away, I'd roll that motherfker up and take 2 puffs
