To be racist is to be "prejudiced against or antagonistic toward a person on the basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group". The target of the comment was certainly of a particular racial or ethnic group. But, of course, so is everyone else. There's no evidence that it was motivated via a prejudice, or antagonist, toward her. Could it have been? Sure. Anything could have been. But it's only meaningful if it was. And there's no such evidence. What we're left with are accusations.

Those accusations evoke curiosity, in this context. Our attention gravitates more toward to accuser than the apparent offender. What is it that motivates such accusations? What are the underlying motives, and what do they inform us about ourselves? And how we're influenced?

Ironically, I suspect the response (msm) favors Trump. It tells us more about ourselves than him.

This is where the left looses credibility. It would be so much more productive to debate on merits of policy and record. Like I think Trump is right or Trump is wrong on Iran or this or that. But this constant BS about racism is just stupid.

Think these accusations are kinda predictable. The first African American president (POTUS) was elected in 2009. Tupac wouldn't have anticipated that. And it signals significant progress over time. Following that, we might expect some "overshoot". We might expect racism, as a notion, to be overemphasized in the political sphere. It becomes an incredibly powerful motivator of voters. And so we have the emergence of ever more racist accusations. Are more people suddenly racist than 10-20 years ago? Of course not. We're just seeing what's, in essence, an overvaluation of racism as a political mechanism (or motivator). When the market takes notice, that'll claw back. And then we'll see fewer politicians, and media entities, making such accusations. It'll become more difficult to manipulate public opinion via those strategies. And the market will become ever more suspect. People aren't stupid. They eventually catch on to when they're being manipulated, or otherwise influenced. And so these political strategies become counter-productive at some point. But not until there's generally some observable overshoot, like one might expect in financial markets. These are the natural consequences of dynamic systems - overshoot, undershoot.
